Introduction

In 3ds Max, the polygon point level (Vertex Level) refers to the vertex (point) level that can be directly edited when editing the polygon mesh. You can edit the vertices of a polygon by selecting, moving, rotating, scaling, and more to modify the object's shape and appearance. Editing at the polygon point level allows you a high degree of control at the object's vertex level, enabling fine adjustments and deformations.

example

We first create the plane

In the list of modifiers select Edit Poly

(1) remove

We select the points that need to be removed

Click "Remove", you can see that the point has been deleted

If you directly press delete to delete, it will be deleted together with the face

(2) Disconnect

When we select a point and click the "Disconnect" button, as shown in the figure below, we can see that there is no change on the surface. In fact, this point has been disconnected into 4 points.

We can see clearly by moving around:

(3) welding

Since it can be disconnected, it can be welded

We can first select the 4 disconnected points, and then select welding, we can see that they have not been welded together yet

We can set the welding threshold to be larger so that the disconnected points can be welded together

Then use the snap tool to precisely align the solder points to other points

(4) extrusion

As shown in the figure below, you can set the extrusion height and extrusion width

(5) Corner cutting

As shown in the figure below, you can set the vertex chamfer amount

You can also set to open the chamfer

(6) Target welding

We can first select a point, then click the "Target Weld" button, and then click another vertex

The two points can then be welded together, as shown in the image below:

(7) connection

If you want to connect a line between two points, you can use the connect command. We first select the two points that need to be connected, and then click the connect button.
