3ds Max script usage example tutorial

This tutorial mainly explains the use of grass script, some commands and parameter settings applied to max and photoshop.

The scene was modeled with 3DSMAX5.1, rendered with the VRAY renderer, and post-processed with PHOTOSHOP at the end.

Here is a wireframe of the model in the scene, the trees behind were made using ONYX's TREEPRO plugin. The green grass is made using a MAX script called ADVANCED NATURE PAINTER by HERMAN SAKSONO, which you can download through WWW.SCRIPTSPOT.COM. The dead trees on the right, pythons and those plants are all modeled with POLY. I tried to keep the number of faces in the scene as low as possible so that the wiring would be simpler and clearer.

Here I will demonstrate to real beginners that 3DSMAX can make a lot of things without any plug-ins. If you visit Script Spot, you'll find MEGATONS tools, rendering tools, and all the other tools.

Now let's see how grass is made, shall we? About plants:

1. Download and install ADVANCED NATURE PAINTER. (There are also script introductions on the download page, it's easy, and there are also two tutorial files to help you.)

2. First in the top view, let's make a WALKWAY. Use the SHAPE/LINE tool, set them to SMOOTH, and draw this WALKAY.

After this is done, right click to convert the model to POLY.

3. If you have successfully installed ADVANCED NATURE PAINTER, then open it, I put it in the toolbar, of course, you can put it anywhere. (3DSMAX has a high degree of personalization) When you open the panel, you may feel that there are many parameters in it. Everything you want is in there, with a click on the 3 dots, another panel will appear, where you can set the depth of the grass.

4. Now hit PAINT and start moving the cursor. Here's a well-meaning warning: be careful! Do it slowly, because you may accidentally add hundreds or thousands of polygons. I use a relatively small increase to make the grass I need, most of the time, so as not to get too stuck on the machine. I all use DISPLAY AS BOX. (on the PROPERTIES panel)

In this way, you should have successfully made the grass, it is really very simple. As long as you are a little familiar with this script, you will feel it is very easy to use. This script is also very good at making stones, but this requires you to learn more about the control method of this script. I used 3DTOTAL's ORGANIC/ALIEN textures and they are really good.
