1. 3ds Max object manipulation
1. Object creation panel
Creating objects is created with the plus sign in the command panel on the right, which is divided into geometry, graphics, lights, cameras, auxiliary objects, space warps and system objects.
2. Create object process and modify it
The operation of creating a teapot is to select the teapot in the command window, modify the parameters in the parameters, and then click the left button in the view and stretch to create. Or directly open the keyboard input below and manually enter the world position and radius.
If it is created in different views, the angle of the object is different, and it is created based on the current view.
When creating, you can first set the creation parameters and colors before creating. The color can be set on the right of the name, and the random color distribution can also be canceled.
In the modification of the command window, operations such as parameter viewing and modification, name and color modification can be performed.
To create objects such as cuboids, you need to press the left button, release the mouse after pulling out the bottom surface, and then pull up or down to pull out the shape of the object. Different objects are created in slightly different ways, and readers can experiment on their own.
There is an automatic grid in the command window. After clicking, the new object created will be adsorbed on the grid of the original object, as shown in the figure.
The material editor (M) can modify the material of the object, click to assign the material to the selected object or drag the material directly to the specified object to assign the material.
2. Scene file management
1. Save the file
It can be saved through file-save. As you can see, 3ds Max can be saved as the .max file of the previous version and the character .chr file. Remember to save when working on the project, otherwise it will be finished.
File reset can clear all this file, use with caution.
2. Import file
There are many 3ds Max files that can be imported, OBJ\FBX\3DS is the mainstream 3d modeling file, and Dwg is a cad file.
File-Import-Merge, you can merge imported .max files and merge multiple .max files. Sometimes only one object may be visible because the size disparity is too great and the other may not be visible. Press z to display large objects. Pay attention to select the size when importing, or select a small one to enlarge it.
The zoom of the main toolbar can be zoomed in, and the shortcut key R.
If the external file imports the link, the attribute cannot be modified, nor can it be deleted. It can be edited in Reference-Manage Link-File-Separate. It may be to keep the original attribute after being over-modified and cannot be restored.
3. Select function
1. Mouse frame selection
Since we want to make a model, selection is an essential function, and only the selected one can be modified.
As shown in the picture, the bright one is the selection tool (Q). To select an object, you can directly click on the object, or drag and drop multiple selections according to the selected area (press Q to modify the dragged selection box).
In the drop-down box, you can filter the selected objects. For example, click on the geometry, and only the geometry can be selected when the view is framed.
2. Select by name
Click Select by Name (H) to select objects by name. The selection panel is relatively comprehensive, and can also be excluded based on attributes, etc., which reminds us that when creating graphics, it is best to give corresponding, understandable, and distinguishable names.
In the edit-select mode, you can also choose according to color, level and name. Similar to the same color, after clicking the selection method - color, click one of the objects, so that objects of the same color can be selected together.
3. Selection set
When we need to select several objects multiple times, we can create a selection set, so that each time we select, we can call up the selection set to complete.
After selecting the object, name the selection set part in the main toolbar 123, then press Enter, and then the drop-down box can be selected.
Summarize
This chapter mainly introduces how to create and modify objects in 3ds Max, how to save and import files, and how to select objects.
