3DMax large-scale special-shaped chandelier modeling tutorial

The case is shown in the figure below. This kind of special-shaped chandeliers are quite common in interior design. They may be different, but they are of the same kind. In this section, I will explain to you the modeling of this kind of special-shaped chandeliers. I hope this case can bring you a different way of thinking, and if you encounter this kind of abnormality in the future, it will not be difficult for you.

1. First draw a spline of this trend.

2. Add a normalized spline command to the spline, and add points evenly to the spline.

3. Extruded, the width is the overall width as the chandelier. There is no specific size, but the following can be grasped in proportion.

4. Convert it to an editable polygon and connect several line segments (if you need to make several ornaments, just connect a few sides)

5. Add the noise command to the connected patches. The size of the parameter is arbitrary (the noise parameter is directly related to the wave amplitude of the final chandelier)

6. Add another FFD4*4*4 to stretch out the dough.

7. In addition, draw a star with 5 points.

8. Find the walk command in the compound object, choose to pick up the distribution object, all vertices. The stars can then be distributed over the patch.

9. Under the transformation rollout, the transformation direction can be controlled independently on the XYZ three axes, and the star-shaped distribution after rotation will not be regular, and a random and natural distribution direction can be obtained.

10. Select the patch, convert it to an editable polygon, select all edges, and split.

11. In this state, hold down SHIFT and drag out the height.

12. Flatten the top vertices.

13. Select all vertical line segments, right click, and create a graph. You can get the light wire that is perfectly connected to the star.

14. If you want to make some scattered stars on the light line, you can repeat the walk again, the difference is that this time the distribution object parameter is selected as edge. The number of repetitions in the red frame is the number of distributed stars, which can be controlled at will.

15. If you want these scattered stars to be smaller than the ones below, you can adjust the parameters at the base ratio. The smaller the parameter percentage, the smaller the object.

16. Delete the useless facets, it is such a special-shaped chandelier. The noise parameters are different, and the final effect will be different. If you want to make a more subtle wave feeling, the parameters of the previous noise can be controlled to be smaller, and vice versa.
