Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

      I remember that when new employees joined the company, the company sent everyone a copy of "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", and invited the company's training instructors to explain the relevant content to everyone as part of the new employee training. Just have some basic understanding, many of the ideas and principles of doing things in the book do not help the work. There are several reasons: 1. When I just entered the workplace, I do not have much knowledge and understanding of the habits and methods of work, and still retain the atmosphere of a student;

2. Lack of thinking about things, more of doing things based on direct feeling, self-behavior and values, and not forming a more systematic style and habit of doing things;

3. It may be related to the Chinese-style education received since childhood. Whether it is doing things or thinking about problems, they like to accept passively, rather than actively think, acquire, and combine actual exploration;

4. I am naturally not interested in Western-style views and ideas, which is why I feel useless after training;

5. It is related to the training teachers and the company's training system. It is more of a theoretical explanation. There is not too much integration and explanation combined with the actual work and China's own culture. The effect of the training is not very good;

In a blink of an eye, more than five years have passed, and my knowledge and understanding of work have deepened a lot, and I have experienced many difficulties and obstacles; my perception and thinking about life have also deepened a lot, and I have experienced a lot of ups and downs. Re-reading this book and the author’s viewpoints in the book also made me reflect more on my work and life, develop a good habit of reading, and keep thinking and summarizing, and eventually I will continue to improve and improve.

This book is mainly divided into three parts, the first part is self-rediscovery; the second part is personal success, from dependence to independence; the third part is public success, from independence to interdependence; the fourth part is self-improvement and perfect.

Chapter 1: Build yourself up from the inside out. At the beginning of this chapter, many questions have been raised, and many articles related to ideas have been studied. The key point is to let everyone understand what are the principles that we should abide by and the fundamentals of being a person and doing things. The current social development is too fast, material desires are overflowing, and the society is impetuous. Many people want to use quick, shortcut, and self-deemed reasonable ways to satisfy various inner desires, but ignore the basic principles that they really need to adhere to and abide by. Chinese culture has a long history, and our nation has been able to reproduce to this day. What our ancestors left behind must be the foundation for us to be human and do things, such as integrity and morality, respect for heaven and love for others, unity of knowledge and action, mutual respect and mutual love, respect for the old and love for the young, etc. I believe that only by truly and constantly comprehending these and sticking to them can we do things better, manage our enterprises better, and develop China better. There are no shortcuts.

Chapter 2, Introduction to the Seven Habits. Habits are hard to form. Habits require knowledge, skill, and willingness. The human growth process will go through three stages, dependency (with you as the core), independence (with me as the core) and interdependence (with us as the core). From the period of dependence to the period of independence, we need to develop three habits (being proactive, focusing on the beginning, and being the first), and from the period of independence to the period of interdependence, we need to develop three habits (win-win thinking, knowing the enemy and understanding ourselves, and Synergy), after the interdependence period, we need to develop habits that are constantly updated, integrate the previous six habits, and continue to evolve. The principle of output and capacity balance expressed by the author is actually not the basic principle of our life and work. In fact, our ancestors have left us a lot in this regard. It is mentioned in classic works such as Tao Te Ching and Wang Yangming's Mind Study. Whatever should be done in accordance with its laws and principles, do not overdo it. Proverbs and stories such as plucking the seedlings for growth, killing chickens to get their eggs, drinking poison to quench thirst, etc. are obviously breaking the principle of balance and leading to failure. There are countless examples of this.

Chapter 3, Habit One: Be proactive. Principles of personal vision. The nature of human nature is active rather than passive, and the most encouraging fact is that human beings can indeed make active efforts to enhance the value of life. Between stimuli and responses, humans have the freedom to choose, including self-awareness, imagination, conscience, and independent will. Turn passive into active, expand your circle of influence, make commitments and keep them. The reason why people are human is because we have a consciousness that is different from other animals. The potential realization of this consciousness must be proactive. There are many examples of proactive changes in our history. Take the initiative to change the story of naturally coping with difficulties, so being proactive is the basic principle of doing things, giving up on yourself and responding negatively can only make things worse.

Chapter 4, Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Principles of self-leadership. Compared with the inner strength, the outer things seem insignificant. The basic definition of starting from the beginning is to recognize the direction clearly, keep in mind one's own values, life goals and self-mission, keep moving forward and never slack off. Everything needs to be created twice, one is intellectual creation, and the other is physical creation, that is, first think clearly, and then work hard to practice. This chapter focuses on intellectual creation, and starting with the end requires us to lead ourselves, to be clear about our mission and statement, to be centered on the right principles, and to continually comprehend security, direction, wisdom, and strength. Regardless of the self-declaration of yourself, your family, or the organization, you need constant participation and continuous practice in order to be recognized. Everyone should have their own goals and tasks. Only by constantly improving themselves can they continue to grow and make greater contributions to themselves, their families, their organizations, and society.

Chapter 5, Habit 3: Do things first. principles of self-management. Habit three is the implementation of the first two habits. The fourth great talent of human beings, independent will, is the key to good self-management. With independent will, we can make decisions and make active choices. Effective management means putting things first and doing the most important things first. To put it bluntly, it is time management. Time management has gone through four stages. The advantage of the current time management concept is to put interpersonal relationships and effects first, and time second, which is more humane. In the process of time management, we will inevitably encounter various things, including trivial matters, learn to say no, and prioritize things, always do the most important thing at the moment. The secret to effective management is delegation, both imperative and accountable.

The sixth chapter, the nature of interpersonal relationships. There can be no friendship without trust, and no trust without honesty. The foundation of good relationships is self-control and self-knowledge. It is courtesy, honesty, kindness, and credit that can increase your emotional account savings. Six Ways to Increase Your Emotional Account Deposit: Understanding Others, Paying Attention to Detail, Keeping Promises, Clear Expectations, Integrity, and Apologizing. We need unconditional love and good one-on-one relationships. The interpersonal relationship of our people is still relatively complicated. There is a lot of knowledge here. It is recommended that everyone read more. The most basic thing is not to hurt people's hearts, and to have good thoughts.

Chapter 7, Habit Four: Win-win thinking. Principles of interpersonal leadership. Win-winners see life as an arena for cooperation, not a gladiatorial arena. Since the birth of human barter, there has actually been a win-win thinking that benefits others and oneself. Barter itself is a way of mutual benefit. With the development of society, there are more and more cooperation scenarios and cooperation methods. More, if both parties do not do things with a win-win mindset, they will ultimately hurt themselves. Win-win morality has three basic characteristics, integrity, maturity, and contentment. In order for people to exist in the world, they still have to rely on the moral values and values that everyone upholds. Mutual love and respect, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation are the kingly way. Whether it is cooperation at work, cooperation between enterprises, or mutual exchanges and cooperation between countries, it is all the same.

Chapter 8, Habit 5: Know the enemy and understand yourself. Principles of empathic communication. The principle of seeking to understand the other person first, and then trying to get the other person to understand you is the key to effective interpersonal communication. The art of war has a cloud, knowing yourself and knowing the enemy can win a hundred battles without being imperiled. When communicating, be sure to diagnose first and then prescribe. Communicate effectively, act as a bosom friend at the right time, and pay attention to expression skills. The classical philosophical views of the ancient Greeks put morality first, emotion second, and reason third. When we really get to know each other well, it opens the door to creative solutions and a third way. Our differences are no longer barriers to communication and progress, but ladders to synergies.

Chapter 9, Habit Six: Synergies. Principles of creative cooperation. George Bush said: I exhort myself to the expectations of the saints, to the key things - unity, to the important things - change, to all things - lenient. Synergy is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is the most advanced of all human activities, and it is the true test and concentrated expression of all other habits. Only by combining the four unique talents of human beings, supplemented by win-win motives and empathic communication, can the highest level of integration and synergy be achieved. Open minds, learn from all opinions, respect differences, and turn resistance into motivation. Nature is the best example of integration and synergy.

Chapter 10, Habit 7: Keep Updating. The principle of balanced self-renewal. The most worthwhile investment in life is to hone yourself, because you have to rely on yourself to live and serve people, and this is the most precious tool. Work itself does not bring a sense of economic security. Only with good thinking, learning, creativity and adaptability can you be invincible. Habit 7 is personal productivity, renewing your nature on four levels, physical, spiritual, intellectual, social/emotional. The physical, emotional, and intellectual aspects are closely related to Habits 1, 2, and 3, while the social/emotional focus is closely related to Habits 4, 5, and 6. Constantly updating the balance, reaching a state of upward spiral. As long as we exist in this society, we must strive for life.

The eleventh chapter, on the self-cultivation from the inside out. The highest, best, and sweetest fruit of the Seven Habits is to work together, to be one with oneself, one lover, one friend and one coworker.

Finally, to sum up, the seven habits discussed in this book, first introduce three habits from a personal perspective, and then introduce three habits from a social perspective, and finally return to yourself, you need to continuously improve and perfect yourself from a personal and social perspective , spiral upward, and make the greatest contribution to the society as well. Some of the ideas in this book are very consistent with those of the Chinese nation itself, and there are many similar famous sayings. As Fan Zhongyan once said, worry about the worries of the world first, and enjoy the pleasures of the world later; if a house is not cleaned, how can the world be cleaned up; the prosperity of the youth will make the country prosperous, and if the youth are strong, the country will be strong. Chinese civilization has a long history. We must strive to learn the best culture among the nation, maintain the fine traditions of humility, low-key, self-improvement, integrity, struggle, cooperation, filial piety, tolerance, etc., and continue to cultivate ourselves from the inside out, adhere to our principles and Values, constantly change yourself, surpass yourself, develop good working and living habits, read more, think more, struggle more, and be more tolerant, I believe that there will be greater success in the end.
