Professor Chen is committed to the research and clinical application of cutting-edge technologies in the intersecting field of artificial intelligence medical care. He has rich academic and industrial experience and provides sufficient resource support for the research group.

Faculty Profile
Prof. Chen Hao is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, deep learning, etc. Professor Chen leads the artificial intelligence medical research group, and has published more than 100 papers in top journals and conferences such as MICCAI, IEEE-TMI, MIA, CVPR, AAAI, Radiology, Lancet Digital Health, Nature Machine Intelligence, JAMA, etc., Google Scholar cited 13,000 More than a thousand times (H-index51). In addition, Professor Chen has extensive industrial research experience and holds more than ten patents on artificial intelligence and image analysis. Professor Chen has won many awards including the 2019 MICCAI Young Scientist Impact Award, the top conference on medical imaging computing, the Elsevier-MICCAI Best Paper Award, the Medical Imaging and Augmented Reality Conference Best Paper Award, ForbesChina 30 under 30 and many other awards. Deputy Editor-in-Chief of several journals such as Artificial Intelligence, Frontiers in Big Data and Medical Physics, and serves as the regional chairman and program committee member of several international conferences on artificial intelligence and medical image analysis such as MICCAI 2021-2022, ISBI 2022, MIDL 2022, AAAI 2022, etc. Led the team to win more than 15 international medical image analysis challenges.
Recruitment details
Doctoral students are mainly for admission in the fall of 2022/spring and autumn of 2023, and a full doctoral scholarship (about HKD 18,500 per month) is provided. Especially excellent ones are recommended to apply for the Hong Kong Government Doctoral Scholarship HKPFS (The amount of the HKPFSis around HKD26,600 per month, plus a travel allowance of HKD13,300 each year. Postdoctoral fellows provide very competitive salaries for those who have obtained a doctorate in medical image analysis, artificial intelligence or computer vision. The requirements are as follows:
Strongprogramming in deep learning frameworks, e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.
Experiencein medical image analysis or machine learning projects is preferred.
Publicationsin top-tier AI or medical image analysis conferences/journals such as MICCAI,CVPR, TMI, MIA, AAAI, IJCAI, etc, are preferred.
Strongself-motivation and curiosity are preferred.
For outstanding undergraduate and master students, positions such as intern, research assistant and abundant scientific research software and hardware resources are provided, and the required time is more than 3 months (remote mode is acceptable).
