Faculty Profile

Mr. Chen Hao is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, deep learning, and computer vision. The artificial intelligence medical laboratory (Smart Lab) led by Mr. Chen has published more than 100 papers in journals and conferences such as MICCAI, IEEE-TMI, MIA, CVPR, AAAI, Radiology, Lancet Digital Health, Nature Machine Intelligence, JAMA, and Google Scholar More than 18,000 citations (H-index 59). In addition, Mr. Chen also has rich experience in industrial research and has more than ten patents in artificial intelligence and image analysis. Mr. Chen has won many awards including the MICCAI Young Scientist Influence Award at the top medical imaging computing conference in 2019, the Elsevier-MICCAI Best Paper Award, the Medical Imaging and Augmented Reality Conference Best Paper Award, and Forbes China 30 under 30. Deputy editor-in-chief of IEEE TNNLS, J-BHI, Neurocomputing, CMIG, Medical Physics and other journals, serving as the field chairperson of multiple international conferences on artificial intelligence and medical image analysis such as MICCAI 2021-2023, ISBI 2022, MIDL 2022-2023, AAAI 2022 And program committee member, led the team to win more than 15 international medical image analysis challenge championships.

Recruitment Details

Post-doctorate offers very competitive salaries for those who have obtained doctorates in medical image analysis, clinical medicine, artificial intelligence or computer vision. The requirements are as follows:

·Strong programming in deep learning frameworks, e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.

·Experience in computer vision or machine learning projects is preferred. 

·Publications in top-tier AI or computer vision conferences/journals such as MICCAI, CVPR, ICLR, NeuIPS, TMI, MIA, AAAI, IJCAI, TPAMI, etc, are preferred.

·Strong self-motivation and curiosity are preferred.

Doctoral students are mainly for admission in the fall of 2024, providing full doctoral scholarships (about HKD 18,500 per month), especially excellent candidates are recommended to apply for the Hong Kong Government Doctoral Scholarship HKPFS (The amount of the HKPFS is around HKD26,600 per month, plus a travel allowance of HKD13,300 each year.
