Lenovo rescuer Y7000P (independent display) WIN10 + Ubuntu 18.04 dual system installation

Start learning how to install dual systems from 9 o'clock in the morning until the successful installation ends at 5 o'clock in the afternoon (orz may not have succeeded, or maybe there will be problems after ubuntu or the two are compatible). Generally speaking, it went smoothly, all of which benefited from the help of bloggers. But this also makes me feel guilty, because many errors are corrected by myself without trying any solutions... For example, after the first installation of ubuntu, the browser has problems and cannot be used. I originally planned to enter win I deleted the partition and did it again, but when I entered ubuntu for the second time, it was inexplicably better...

In short, the progress is too smooth and disturbing, and there may be many bugs in future use. In order to debug in the future, record the whole installation process here for easy reference.

Main reference blog post

Reference blog 1: Windows10 installation ubuntu dual-system tutorial (absolutely the most detailed in history)
reference blog 2: [Xiaozu Ubuntu use the second article] Lenovo Y7000 savior win10+16.04 dual-system installation of various compatibility issues
** Reference blog 1 is The main thing I watched in the morning was really written in very detail. It gave me a general understanding of the entire installation process and also allowed me to conceive the idea of installation in a focused manner according to my computer type.
** Reference blog 2 mainly refers to the Linux partitioning method and the handling of ACPI errors.

Let's talk about the problems I encountered, but I haven't seen the problems in the above two articles and other blogs I have browsed.

ubuntu installation image read

Use the ubuntu18.04 image to put it in the USB flash drive and boot from the USB flash drive. After the ubuntu system interface is displayed, an error is reported: Ubuntu18.04 has experienced internal error. (I can't remember, the sentence is roughly like this). I think the problem is mainly due to the recording of the disc. The solutions I tried: 1) I suspect that there is a problem with the recording method, so I consulted the blog and chose to re-engrave with the RAW method (the restraint of the RAW method will make the size of the U disk smaller, so the operation is complete. Afterwards, you need to use software like diskGenius to restore the USB flash drive), but this time it reports an error without even looking at the ubuntu interface, so I do not; 2) suspect that there is a problem with the burning source, so re-download the iso image file from the official website (Ubuntu20.04) ), but I didn’t get to the ubuntu interface and reported ACPI BIOS ERROR. I searched for many solutions to ACPI errors (including refer to blog 2), but they couldn’t be resolved, so I gave up; 3) I suspected that there was a problem with the U disk, so I changed it. A USB flash drive, re-burn ubuntu18.04, this time it is fine. It is inferred that the problem may lie in the USB flash drive.

Ubuntu setup related

  • Many tutorials on the Internet say that additional Wi-Fi drivers should be installed, but when I enter the system on my machine, Wi-Fi is included;
  • In the Ubuntu software column of "Software and Updates", after selecting a server from China, there was a bug, and then the Firefox browser could no longer be used, the built-in mailbox also had an error, and the LibreOffice series software also fell one after another. But after restarting later, these softwares are inexplicably better again. . .
  • According to the blog, because the computer is equipped with a discrete graphics card and the related driver is missing under the ubuntu system, there may be a stuck phenomenon when starting the ubuntu system. However, when I later entered the ubuntu system (the default item selected in the "Additional Drivers" column at this time, that is, "Use X.Org X server...", and in the win10 system, it was determined that the independent display was turned on, but it was not stuck. . After entering the software and updating the additional driver, I found that there is no NVIDIA's independent display (???) at all. This is my immediate task. I want to call out the independent display. After all, the purpose of installing dual systems is to Running big data under linux, this is okay without independent support. . .
