Tails 4.0 has been released , as follows:
- This release introduces many enhancements and updated components, including the latest Tor Browser 9.0 browser, Tor 0.4.1.6 anonymity network client and server, OnionShare 1.3.2 file sharing tools, MAT 0.9.0 metadata removal tool and KeePassXC password Manager.
- Tails 4.0 is powered by the latest Linux 5.3 kernel series, providing better support for newer hardware, and many other improvements. On this basis, Tails 4.0 with GnuPG 2.2.12, Enigmail 2.0.12, Electrum 3.3.8, Git 2.20.1, LibreOffice 6.1.5, Inkscape 0.92.4, GIMP 2.10.8 and Audity2.2.2.
- Tails Greeter in this version has also been some enhancements, especially for non-English speakers. These include faster language selection, to simplify the list of keyboard layouts, formatting work, and a "cancel" or click the "Back" to prevent affecting other settings button.
- In addition to all of the software updates, Tails 4.0 also brings a lot of underlying improvements, the system's boot speed 20% faster than the previous version, and requires approximately 250 MB of memory. In addition, ISO image Tails 3.16 now smaller than 47 MB.
- Other enhancements include support for USB tethering from iPhone and display the password when you create a lasting memory, support the use of default Tor browser bookmarks, and new document pages and the like.
