VMware Player (official free personal version) virtual machine download and virtual machine configuration process (taking Linux as an example)

First enter the official website        VMware official website link

Click Resources, then click Product Download

Then find VMware Workstation Player on the transfer page. This version is VMware’s free version for personal use. Click to enter the download page.

 click to download

Then select the corresponding installation package according to your computer’s operating system (taking the author’s Windows system as an example)

 Run the installation file

Here, select your software installation location according to your own situation.

Deselecting these two items will make your use smoother and more stable. You can also choose to turn them on if needed later.

 Then click Install

 Start the software

Select non-commercial use, and you are done. The above is the installation of a personal free version of VMware virtual machine.

Next, we create a virtual machine for the Linux system. First, click Create New Virtual Machine

Since the personal version does not come with its own iso file, we need to download it ourselves. Next, take the Tsinghua mirror source as an example to download the operating system we need. The following is a link to the          Tsinghua University open source software mirror station | Tsinghua Open Source Mirror

Click to get the download link

Then select the version of the operating system you need. Taking the author as an example, download the latest Ubuntu (a distribution of Linux) operating system (the desktop version of Ubuntu is a good choice for learning Linux. Ubuntu provides a user-friendly interface and Extensive software support, so it is very suitable for novices to get started.), click to download, the file will be a bit large, (I tried version 23 and there seemed to be some problems)

At this point, we select the iso file we downloaded

 After selecting, click Next

This is creating a user for your Linux system. Please set it according to your own preferences. After creating it, take the next step.

Set here according to your needs. After the settings are completed, select Next

Click Customize Hardware to allocate memory and the number of cores to the virtual machine according to your needs.

The memory of the author's computer is 32G, so I will allocate 4G for now. You can choose according to your needs, usually 2-4G.

, click Close after setting

Select whether to turn on the virtual machine and click Finish

If you choose to start the virtual machine, wait for the virtual machine to run. Now install the system. Enter your password for the new user. This user is your new user. Then click continue to continue, and then wait for the installation.

 Just wait and you're done!!!!

The above is the official download and use tutorial for the free version for individual users. Work station related installation will be updated later.
