2022 Kaiyuanshe Annual Report: Opening up a New World

2022 is considered to be a challenging year, and it is no exception for Kaiyuanshe. The Open Source Society is also facing constant changes in the external environment. However, it is the power of open source and the open collaboration model that allow us to make an excellent response in this extreme situation.

Everyone is curious about the organizational structure of Kaiyuanshe, and wants to know how we operate in an open, transparent, self-managed and innovative evolutionary manner. By reading the annual report of Kaiyuanshe, you will see that our organizational structure is like a well-designed design drawing of water conservancy projects. When water flows through, every drop of water can naturally flow to the position where it can maximize its value.

Openness and transparency is one of the core values that Kaiyuanshe adheres to. From the annual report, we publish the income and actual expenditure of the open source community every year, and this information is publicly visible to everyone in the community. Every dollar from sponsors and individual donations is directed in a neutral and utility-maximizing direction. With the least funds, we successfully held 1 main forum + 16 sub-forums, and cooperated with 147 volunteers and sponsors to hold offline gatherings of China Open Source Annual Conference in 9 cities at the same time. These activities sow the seeds of hope for the future KCC (Kaiyuanshe City Community).

Self-management is an important feature of Kaiyuanshe. The open source community takes the working group as the cornerstone, divides and conquers the various functional areas of the community, and enables each working group to have the ability of self-management and innovation. Our organizational structure includes 9 working groups under the executive committee, 7 project groups under the project committee, as well as an advisory committee, a legal advisory committee and a council. While there is no real leader, everyone is a master. Everyone is an important element in a working group, and our members are rooted in a specific working group for a long time, learning skills and making contributions continuously. The accumulation of this core culture ensures the stability of the community, and the sense of belonging makes members willing to stay in the community.

What is the source of continuous innovation and iteration in the open source community? We have thought and discussed this issue. Our innovation comes from a deep understanding of open source, actively introduces new blood, tolerates and understands contributors from different backgrounds, supports new ideas and ideas, and provides a platform for free development. We are constantly improving the China Open Source Annual Report every year. In 2022, we will introduce the metaverse virtual conference for the first time in COSCon, and release the list of 33 Chinese Open Source Pioneers in just 48 hours, combining sports and open source spirit to launch a real Hackathon. Innovation in Kaiyuanshe has always been in progress.

Looking ahead to 2023, we have hope for an open source world. We expect that in this year, we will witness the integration of online and offline communities, witness more in-depth cooperation with international open source communities in the way of "bringing in and leading out", and we will also see open source culture and spirit Better convey to the wider world, and promote open source as a way of life in the new era. In 2023, we firmly believe that we will make greater progress.

Founded in 2014, Kaiyuan Society is composed of individual members who voluntarily contribute to the cause of open source. In the past seven years, it has connected tens of thousands of open source people, gathered thousands of community members and volunteers, hundreds of lecturers at home and abroad, and cooperated with nearly a hundred sponsors, media, and community partners.
