On October 28, 2022, the openKylin community SIG online technical seminar was successfully held. The purpose of this conference is to strengthen the communication and communication between the openKylin community and various SIG groups, and to promote the better development of community SIG. It was hosted by openKylin community Release SIG Maintainer Zhang Tianxiong, openKylin community director Wen Yan, openKylin community technical committee member Yu Jie , GraphicSystem SIG Maintainer Yang Lingyun , Defend SIG Owner Zhao Jianzu , Xfce and KDE SIG Owner Ru Taolin , QuarkAI SIG Owner Zhang Wentao , InternationalPromotion SIG Owner Wang Wenzhu , UKUI SIG Owner Zhang Chao , Infrastructure SIG Owner Mao Zhou, RISC-V SIG Owner Liu Xiaodong, I18N SIG Owner Li Jianfeng, Community SIG Owner Liu Min and other members participated, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions around the work of various SIG groups in the community.
1. SIG work report
At the beginning of the meeting, each SIG group reported and shared around the current work progress and future planning of the group, among which:
- GraphicSystem SIG Maintainer Yang Lingyun said that GraphicSystem SIG is currently working on solving problems such as the flickering screen and the adaptation of different types of graphics cards that will appear on the open source driver SoC graphics platform, and will continue to submit codes to the openKylin community mesa project and wayland project in stages;
- Defend SIG Owner Zhao Jianzu said that the team is currently planning the functional modules of the openKylin security protection application, and will complete the requirements specification and release development tasks in the community. Interested developers are welcome to participate together;
- Xfce and KDE SIG Owner Ru Taolin said that the Xfce and KDE desktop environments have completed version selection and 80% of the component packages are packaged and compiled locally, and will be released to the openKylin proposed source next;
- Zhang Wentao, Owner of QuarkAI SIG , said that the development of AI applications such as intelligent voice assistant and knotting compilation platform has been completed, and the next step is to prepare for packaging and compiling and self-testing.
2. Introduction to Community Planning
Subsequently, Release SIG Maintainer Zhang Tianxiong introduced the plan of the openKylin community in terms of SIG group support , which mainly includes four aspects: community member growth system, SIG group brand promotion, and openKylin version planning. Among them, Zhang Tianxiong introduced that the openKylin community releases an official version every year, and each SIG group should mainly carry out the work of the SIG group around the openKylin version, and strive to make the deliverables of the SIG group a part of the official version release.
3. Round table discussion
Finally, in the round table discussion session of the conference, the participants exchanged and discussed the follow-up operation, management and publicity of the SIG group and what kind of support they hope to get from the openKylin community . Among them, for the SIG publicity work, the openKylin community can provide brand promotion support for each SIG group, and at the same time, the owner of each SIG group can also promote it through personal channels, attracting more aspiring people to join and create a "star SIG".
In addition, for the contributions of SIG members, the openKylin community has also launched a growth system, which is open to all openKylin community members. They can not only redeem community gifts, but also unlock different community rights.
The successful convening of this SIG online technical seminar has further strengthened the technical exchanges between the various SIG groups in the community, and between the SIG groups and the community, and deepened everyone's understanding of the responsibilities of each SIG group. In the future, the openKylin community will continue to make efforts to help the promotion and application of the work of the community SIG group, and work together to create a top-level open source community with the ability to customize the operating system form and international influence.
