Apache's Top Open Source Master Joins COSCon'19 Luxury Lecturer Lineup

The industry's most influential open source annual event, 2019 China Open Source Annual Conference (COSCon'19) will be held by Kaiyuanshe on November 2-3 at East China Normal University (North Zhongshan Road Campus, Putuo District, Shanghai) . With its unique positioning and increasing influence, COSCon has attracted more and more top companies and international foundations to support them.
The unique positioning of COSCon is to become the most ideal and caring venue for connecting "excellent open source project communities" and "developers and volunteers who are interested in learning and participating in contributing to open source". Adhering to the tradition from the 2015 Apache China Roadshow (hosted by Kaiyuanshe) to the 2016-2018 China Open Source Annual Conference (COSCon'16 - COSCon'18), this year the world's largest open source foundation Apache Software Foundation (ASF) will once again have three heavyweights The bosses will participate in COSCon'19, and they will share with you: whether local open source projects originating from China can really be integrated into the in-depth research of top international foundations; the joys and sorrows and secrets of project incubation (especially Chinese projects); The most important top-level mental method "Apache Way" revealed; and open source education experience talks and other wonderful topics. We also specially invited Wu Sheng, the only great master in China who has transformed from a personal project into a top ASF project, to share his wonderful journey, and how he is currently tutoring multiple open source projects from China in the Apache project incubator experience.

Sharan has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, focusing on the delivery and implementation of IT projects. She currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden, where she works as Agile Delivery Manager at Sandvik Machining Solutions. Sharan has been involved with the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) since 2008 and has spoken at several conferences on how "The Apache Way" engages and empowers the community. Sharan enjoys working in open source community management and is Apache's Vice President of Community Development. She is a committer, ASF member, and involved in several ASF projects, including Apache Community Development, Apache OFBiz, Apache Kibble, Apache Training (incubating project), and Apache Project Incubator.
Speech Title: The Backbone of Apache Culture - The Apache Way

With more than 300 top-level open source projects, the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) is the largest and best-known open source foundation in the world. It continues to grow by attracting donors and projects. A key part of the incubation process for new ASF projects is that these projects demonstrate a culture that understands and actively uses the Apache Way. For some people and projects, this means having to change the way they behave and interact with others. Culture change is not easy, but the number of ASF projects has continued to grow over the past 20 years. Why do we believe that our cultural backbone - the Apache Way makes more and more projects successful? For the past year, Sharan has been researching some Chinese-originated Apache projects, focusing on cultural metrics and measuring various cultural changes. Sharan will share her observations and analysis.

Lecturer profile:
Daniel is Vice President of Middleware and Open Source Evangelist at Master Carc. He's responsible for setting Mastercard's direction with regard to the web and cloud space, and he spends his days and nights playing with the infrastructure and code that powers Mastercard, both inside and outside the firewall.
Daniel is a newly elected member of the Apache Software Foundation Board of Directors this year, vice president of the Fundraising Committee, and a full member of the ASF. He has been contributing code to open source projects - from simple pet projects to widely used servers. An open source enthusiast, he also teaches a course on open source software development at the university (and will share bits and pieces of that course with you).
He has repeatedly introduced at various conferences how to expand and introduce open source in enterprises, and how to deepen the public, colleges and students' understanding of open source through open source education.

From its humble beginnings, the Apache Software Foundation has grown to be the home of hundreds of open source projects, and the ASF is also the well-known custodian of the Apache Public License. ASF is a good example of a public interest foundation that values "community over code"...but what does that really mean? What is the value of ASF? What is the structure of the foundation? How can you and I participate?
Through the sharing of Daniel, ASF Board Director and Vice President of Fundraising Committee, we review the history, structure, process and everything that made ASF what it is today. From October 2015, I started my open source journey, officially becoming a participant, contributor and maintainer from a pure open source software user. SkyWalking went from my personal project in 2015 to today's Apache top-level project. And in the process, he became a core contributor to CNCF OpenTracing, participated in the Apache incubator PMC, and helped more and younger projects in China. In the process, I also met a large number of Chinese open source contributors. In the course of 4 years, I have learned a lot about the resistance and opportunities of open source in China.
