Admittedly, many students just like listen to what the teachers say and only want to learn using the class time. By doing do, they think that they could reserve time for other important time. However,  learning  through record lecture do benefit both the students and the teacher, as it can help student to know which part they need to pay more attention,  help them have a boarder view of the topic, and ease the teacher and at the same time will a better study experience.

Firstly, someone may simply argue that records will have many part which have a lot similarity with the lecture offered by the teacher. So watching that recording only make his study even worse for study something duplicated. However, what happen is that, after carefully pre-study the topic that would be discussed by the professor next day, students can know better which part they need to pay attention to. If something just spend the same amount of time on every part, that may don't work well. For example,  a group of people study language, and 4 of them are come from England, while 1 student comes from France. Then if they are talking some things about England tomorrow, then the students may need to prepare well before the class, and vice versa.

Secondly, not only students can know the difficult part for himself, but also can them learn more things. For example, we say a student who's family are musician. And when he take some instrument class next week, he may just find it is just too simple for him. So some records which discuss about difficult theory of music may not be covered by the teachers' lecture. However, he can have a deep understanding about some things via the recordings offered by the teacher.

Thirdly, the same wonderful experience happened with the teachers. If there are not any records, then the teacher may need to cover every detail, sometime even some background knowledge is also needed. For example, a story about skillful teacher who have trouble find a well paid job. If students only see this information, they probably are curious why this would happen. So the teacher need to cover that this happened at some specific time. For example, great depression. And if students already watch the records which already tell the background, teachers may spend more time discuss why she would like to talk this story. And how do this ones distinguish itself from others at that time.

So both the students and the teacher can benefit from the records.
