1: Use VC to create a virtual machine normally. The first four items are selected according to your own time. For compatibility, use the default ESXI7.0U2 and higher versions.
2: Select Windows as the guest operating system, and select the Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) we want to install as the guest operating system version.
3: Custom hardware can be selected according to your actual situation, but you must add a new hardware USB2.0 otherwise the mouse cannot be used.
4: Added successfully. Select the installed image file in the new CD/DVD drive.
5: After the setting is completed, turn on the power and start installing the system.
6: After the installation is complete, do not try to install VMware Tools. The following prompt will appear.
7: Click to always install this driver software, but the following error will still be reported. The installer cannot automatically install the Virtual Machine Communication (vSock) driver. This Interface Sockets driver must be installed manually. Do not try to continue the installation after this error occurs. If you continue the installation, the mouse will become unusable. The first time I tried to install it, the keyboard and mouse finally became unusable, so I re-virtualized the system.
8: The above error occurs because Windows Server 2008 R2 lacks KB4474419 and KB4490628 patches.
9: After successfully installing the patch, just install VMware Tools as follows.
10: Select mount.
11: Enter the system, find the CD-ROM drive, and double-click to install.
12: VMware Tools installed successfully.
