The Extended Security Update (ESU) program is the last option for customers who need to run certain legacy versions of Microsoft products after support ends. It includes critical and/or important security updates for up to three years after the product's extended support end date .

Extended Security Updates will be distributed as they become available. ESU does not contain new features, customer requested non-security updates, or design change requests (sysins).

All Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/R2 customers, received the update on January 14, 2020, as the operating system was in a supported state until then. After January 14, 2020, updates for these operating systems are only available to ESU customers.

Cumulative update package custom usage :

Customized images can be made with patch packs as needed, and all versions of Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 are supported.

The system must have at least 10 GB of free hard disk space and preferably at least 1 GB of free RAM.
You can drag and drop a clean iso distribution onto UpdatePack7R2 and get an update iso image out of the box.
For flexibility in installing the kit, you can use the following keys and their combinations:
- The key /Reboot is used to automatically reboot if required.
- Switch /S for a completely silent installation, no windows and messages. Registered items.
- Key / Silent passive installation - You can see the progress, but the installation is completely automatic.
- The switch /Temp= allows you to set a temporary working directory. It doesn't have to be empty, but it must exist.
- Allowing the /NoSpace key lets you skip checking for free space on the system partition, its use is not recommended.
- The /FixOn switch turns on Meltdown and Specter protection, while /FixOff turns it off. For Win7, if there is no key, the protection is disabled, and for Win2008R2, it is enabled.
