Introduction to DCMM Data Management Capability Maturity Assessment Model
DCMM (Data Management Capability Maturity Assessment Model) is my country's first national standard in the field of data management. This standard divides the data management of organizational objects into eight major capability areas ( data strategy, data governance, data architecture, data standards, data quality, data security, data application, data life cycle ), and conducts a second-level assessment of each capability area. Division of capability items (28 capability items) and maturity levels ( initial level, managed level, robust level, quantitative management level, optimization level ).
Source of DCMM
The Information and Software Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Standards and Technology Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation established the National Information and Standards Committee Big Data Standards Working Group in 2014 to engage in standardization work in the national big data field and be responsible for the centralized work of ISO/IEC JTC1/WG9 international standards. It was led by Mei Academician Hong serves as the team leader, and the secretariat is located in the China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute.
In the year when the working group was established, the DCMM national standard project was established and the development work was officially launched. After nearly 4 years of standard development and experimental verification, it was officially released on March 15, 2018. It is a summary and improvement of the best practices in the field of data management in my country.
Contents of DCMM
The DCMM national standard combines the characteristics of each stage of data life cycle management, analyzes and summarizes data management capabilities according to organization, system, process and technology, extracts eight major process areas of organizational data management, and conducts a second review of each capability area. The division of level process items (28 process items) and development levels (5 levels), as well as the introduction of related functions and the formulation of evaluation indicators (441 indicators).
