1. Introduction of VNCL4040
The VCNL4040 integrates a proximity sensor (PS), ambient light sensor (ALS) and high-power IRED into one small package. It integrates photodiodes, amplifiers and analog-to-digital conversion circuits into one chip through CMOS technology.
The VCNL4040 offers excellent sensing capabilities with 16-bit high-resolution ALS, with enough options to suit most applications, whether dark lens or high transparency lens designs.
High and low interrupt thresholds can be programmed for ALS and PS, allowing the component to use a minimum amount of microcontroller resources. The proximity sensor adopts an intelligent elimination scheme to effectively eliminate crosstalk. For faster PS response times, Smart Persistence prevents false positives for proximity sensing while maintaining fast response times.
In the active power mode, VCNL4040 can request a single measurement, which provides another better design flexibility to meet different types of applications in a more power-saving manner.
Patented Filtron technology enables ambient spectral sensitivity closest to real human eye response and provides best background light cancellation (including sunlight)
