Overloading Velocity Templates
velocity
Directories are the folders that Confluence Velocity template files need to search. For example, you can do this by placing your Velocity file in the correct path with the correct filename. We don't recommend doing this with your Confluence site unless you know exactly what you're doing. The files in this section will give you complete control over your Confluence site. It also means that you can edit your Confluence site template files as text files and apply them to the entire site.
cache
Velocity is configured to cache template files in memory. When you edit a page's template file in Confluence, Confluence knows that the file has been edited and will reload the template file from disk. If you are editing velocity directly in Confluence's disk files, you will either need to close WEB-INF/classes/velocity.properties
the cache configuration in Confluence or restart the server for the changes to take effect.
Velocity file location
You can find Velocity files in your Confluence installation directory. The main Velocity files are located <CONFLUENCE-INSTALLATION>\confluence\decorators
under the directory. For example, you can find some of the following files in the folder: : main.vmd, space.vmd, form-aui.vmd, global.vmd
and some others.
Find layout by URL
If your layout has been modified, but the appearance has not changed, you can access it directly via the browser URL:
http:
//<confluence base url>/admin/resetdecorator.action?decoratorName=decorators/main.vmd
|
.vmd
Substitute the in the base URL with the correct filename to look it up in the filesystem.
