Confluence 6 manage plugins and components

An add-on is a feature installed separately from Confluence that enhances the functionality and use of Confluence. The terms plugin and add-on are often used together.

There are 2 main types of components:

  • System-level components - This type of component provides the core functionality of the Confluence system
  • User Installed Components - Components of this type are usually available as separate downloads. Usually developed by Atlassian or third-party companies in The Marketplace .

For how to develop your own components in Confluence, please refer to the page Confluence Developer documentation .
