Confluence 6 upload files

When you upload a file, such as uploading a picture or document, uploaded files will be attached to the current page.

You can choose to display as a link or a picture embedded in the page (using macros) will file page.

Upload a file to the page you need to have permission to add an attachment space (Add Attachments).

Upload a file

There are several ways to upload a file onto the page.

In the page editor, you can:

  • Drag the file directly to the page.
  • Into the  insert (Insert)files and images (Files and images)  and then upload a file.

When viewing a page, you can:

  • Drag the file directly to the page.
  • To Go   >  Attachments  and upload a file.

You can upload multiple files at once.

Accepted file types and sizes

Confluence allows you to add almost any type of file, but you can not add a folder where the file (including similar document Keynote created folder, you need to you need to upload the folder compressed into ZIP format or other formats).

Despite allow you to add any type of file, but not all files can be displayed or embedded into the page display. Check the  Display Files and Images  content page for more information.

Confluence allows maximum file upload size is limited by the administrator. The default is 10MB, but your system administrator may increase or reduce this limit.

file version

If you have uploaded files and page files that already exist with the same file name, Confluence will overwrite the existing file, for all attachments, Confluence version history retained accessory. See the  Manage Files  page for more content.

Any changes to the original file will not affect Confluence has been uploaded version, if you want to update Confluence has a copy of the uploaded file, you will need to re-upload the modified file.

What happens when a file is uploaded?

The file will be retrieved and indexed

When a file is uploaded, the text in the file and will get indexed, this can allow people to search the contents of files and not just the file name search.

Creating thumbnails

When you insert a file uploaded to the page of time (such as Word documents or Excel spreadsheets), Confluence will create a thumbnail for this file, so the file can be viewed or previewed page. On the Confluence server, when the thumbnail is created by the Confluence server.

Confluence in the data center, create thumbnails are done outside, this can minimize the impact on the node. This is because when you need to create thumbnails consume relatively high memory and CPU, in particular for more complex documents of the time. Remark

(warning)  We advise you not to use special string in a page or attachment name. If you use a special string, or the page may not be found in the annex of Confluence search, but also may cause damage Confluence functionality.
