2 Experimental purpose

① Observe the forwarding process of simple data packets (ICMP) and the forwarding process of RIP packets
② Learn to check the routing table and RIP routing table
③ Learn to turn on and off RIP diagnosis

3 Experimental steps

1. Drag the router and PC to the work area, and select the automatic connection type to connect the devices according to the topology.

 

 

2. According to the network address of each network, set the port IP address of each router and the IP address of each host.
      Note: When setting the host IP address, you also need to set the default gateway address.

After the setting is successful, it is observed that the origins at both ends of all links become flashing green dots, indicating that all connections are active.

3. After the RIP routing protocol is configured
     , check the data packet path.
     In the real-time mode, add a simple data switch from PC0-PC1 to the simulation mode to observe the forwarding process of the data packet, observe the forwarding process of the simple data packet (ICMP) and the RIP packet In the forwarding process, when the final status is "success", it means that PC0 to PC1 are connected.
