Rocky Linux establishes open source foundation

Recently, the Rocky Linux team headed by CentOS founder Gregory Kurtzer announced the establishment of an open source foundation around the project to fully promote the development of the project.

Rocky Linux officially stated that the team is currently working hard to coordinate many individuals and organizations to promote Rocky Linux Foundation, Inc. (Rocky Linux). The core team is currently working hard to build the infrastructure to support the resource requirements of systems engineering. Relevant project news, release date and other updates will be released on official forums, websites, and other social media platforms.

It is reported that the Rocky Linux Foundation (Rocky Linux Foundation, Inc.) has registered as a legal non-profit organization in Delaware, USA. The project team will submit an application for 501©3 non-profit status to obtain tax-exempt support.

Regarding the open source license used by the project, the team currently prefers to use the 3-clause BSD license (3-clause BSD license), but the community is welcome to provide comments on this decision.

Kurtzer said that since the project was announced, it has received many sponsorships from companies and individual developers in the form of hardware, cloud instances, and funds. "We are very happy to communicate with interested organizations, and we will publicly thank all contributors on our website."
