The Kotlin Foundation recruits members and plans to sponsor Kotlin open source authors

According to news from KotlinConf 2023 , the Kotlin Foundation is launching a grant program for Kotlin open source library authors and a membership recruitment program for companies.

Funding program for authors of Kotlin open source libraries

With the goal of enhancing the Kotlin ecosystem and promoting its sustainable development, the Kotlin Foundation provides grants to support developers in creating and maintaining open-source Kotlin libraries, tools, and frameworks.

The Membership Recruitment Program will select grants based on the ability of open source authors to meet the following criteria:

  • Does the project address a common problem in the Kotlin ecosystem - a preference for multi-platform solutions.
  • Whether the project effectively responds to security issues and bug reports, as well as Kotlin and library updates.
  • Whether the project follows library development best practices .
  • Can you describe the strategy for how the grant will be used to improve the project.

The Kotlin Foundation has launched a membership program , and welcomes more companies to cooperate in language development governance, promote the Kotlin ecosystem, and promote the language.

The first members to join the Kotlin Foundation were  Gradle Inc. , Touchlab  , and  Shopify .

Silver members are $30,000 per year, and gold members are $150,000.
