Chunghwa Telecom increases 5G capital expenditure: 5G construction cycle is compressed from five years to three years

On September 14th, according to Taiwan media reports, Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Xie Jimao said recently that Chunghwa Telecom decided to accelerate the construction of 5G networks, and 5G capital expenditures have also increased.

Chunghwa Telecom originally expected NT$9.7 billion in 5G capital expenditures in 2020, but now it has decided to increase it by 10%, which is expected to reach NT$11 billion. At the same time, the annual capital expenditure of NT$30.7 billion remains unchanged, which means that other expenditures will be reduced and 5G construction will be expanded.

Chunghwa Telecom originally planned to complete the construction of 8,500 5G base stations by 2021, but now it can exceed 10,000. At the same time, Chunghwa Telecom shortened its 5G construction plan from the original five years to three years, and the overall investment was NT$60 billion.

Chunghwa Telecom currently has more than 100,000 5G users. Xie Jimao said that with the promotion of Apple's 5G version of iPhone, it is expected to reach 300,000 by the end of the year. By the first anniversary of 5G commercial use in June next year, 5G users will exceed 1 million.

Shanxi Unicom and Huawei complete the world's first 2.1G 40MHz large bandwidth dynamic spectrum sharing concatenated network pilot

Recently, Shanxi Unicom and Huawei have implemented the world's first FDD 40MHz large-bandwidth dynamic spectrum sharing contiguous networking test in Taiyuan. This large-bandwidth dynamic spectrum sharing test can maximize the 2.1GHz spectrum utilization rate. The contiguous networking fully verified the actual deployment effect of the solution on the existing network.

The large bandwidth dynamic spectrum sharing solution is the latest innovative solution of Huawei CloudAIR in the 5G era. 5G uses 40MHz continuous large bandwidth spectrum, of which 20MHz bandwidth is dedicated to 5G, and the other 20MHz bandwidth is shared by 4G and 5G. 4G uses the 20MHz bandwidth through real-time dynamic sharing with 5G.

The large-bandwidth dynamic spectrum sharing scheme can minimize the impact on the stock LTE network and guarantee the experience of stock LTE users. In the pilot scenario, the NR downlink peak rate is 757Mbps, and the NR downlink average rate is 404Mbps. Compared with the statically configured 20MHz NR + 20MHz LTE scenario, the downlink peak experience of NR users has increased by more than 85%, and the downlink peak experience of LTE users remains unchanged. .

US Dish selects Nokia to provide 5G SA core network software

For more than a year, Dish Network of the United States has been talking about using modern cloud native technology to build its new wireless network. It is widely speculated that Dish will follow Rakuten Mobile's new network and may purchase technology from Rakuten. However, Dish has just announced that it has selected Nokia to provide 5G SA core network software.

Dish said that the company and Nokia conducted joint tests for several months before reaching the deal. Nokia has proven its technical capabilities in multiple cloud environments.

Considering that Marc Rouanne, Dish's chief network officer, was a Nokia executive, it seems logical that it chose Nokia's 5G SA core network software.

According to the cooperation agreement, Nokia will provide user data management, terminal device management, packet core, voice and data core, and integrated services. Nokia will also provide other cloud-native products, which will provide 4G, 5G SA services, and Wi-Fi voice services that access core network functions.

Huawei's chip supply is officially terminated!

On September 15, the new US ban on Huawei came into effect. Starting today, including TSMC, Qualcomm, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, etc., will no longer supply chips to Huawei.

On August 7, Yu Chengdong called Kirin 9000 or Huawei's high-end chips out of print. On September 8th, at the China Xinchuang Huangpu Forum, Academician Ni Guangnan believed that Huawei will not face the dilemma of "no core available". China already has 28nm lithography machines. Although 7nm and 5nm advanced process chips cannot be made in the short term, this can only affect the mobile phone business.

Global 5G commercial network increased to 106!

According to foreign media reports, since the three major telecommunications operators in South Korea launched 5G commercial services for individual consumers in April last year, it has been 17 months since the global 5G commercial use, and the number of 5G commercial networks worldwide has exceeded 100.

Serbia: 5G cooperation with Huawei will not be affected, many things are in preparation

On the afternoon of September 16, Beijing time, the Huawei Innovation and Development Center opened on Monday under the witness of Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo.

Branabic said that the center will greatly help Serbia to further achieve digitalization. Despite signing an agreement with Washington, the country is still developing many front-end technologies with Huawei before the introduction of 5G.

The Serbian Ministry of Interior has also reached a cooperation agreement with Huawei to introduce Huawei's eLTE wireless broadband technology and smart city public safety system to the country. In addition, the Serbian Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei on the smart city project in 2019, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Serbian broadband network development as early as 2017.

According to reports, the agreement signed with Washington has no effect on these cooperation.
