The errors seem to be sporadic and can occur a couple of seconds apart and to up to perhaps 20 seconds. However, it does seem to take at least a couple of minutes to a few minutes for the first error to occur from a fresh start. Resolution and frame rate do not appear to alter the behavior although I have not tried anything above the default of 1280x720 at 30 FPS. |

We have also used the computers in 5 different locations, some several miles apart and one a few hundred miles away and also tried running one just on the notebook battery so power is obviously not the issue. Running on my older Dell computer (several years old but an i7) at 1280x720 @ 30 FPS, I have no problems. I think it is something about the new i3 computers, but what is confusing is that it will run for several minutes before I receive errors and will also run on USB 2 without errors using the same parameters (both tests at 15 FPS). My guess is that there is something about the computer design that is not right, it is a bad driver, or there is a driver setting that needs to be adjusted.  |

There is hope!!! Before plunking down money on a new thunderbolt equipped laptop, I thought I would do some experiments to see how far I could push the number of cameras on a single platform. I built a system for about $400 (AMD... sorry, budget system:) Based on the 2200g. This system, which has gen 1 and gen 2 usb 3.1 will not see a hub no matter what I do. I can use the hub on an old laptop. On this system, I can use all of the gen1 and gen2 ports simultaneously BUT... I have to plug my USB hard drive first and then plug in a camera to the same header after the system starts. I have found that if I set the viewer to any allowed settings, I am fine. Stress testing is below. Rock solid... runs forever with three cameras at full bore. I have room for three more cameras but I only have three right now. (2) D415 and (1) D435. BUT... If I even think about changing the settings on one of the cameras... I get that red alert. Honest to God... I turn off one of the streams and things go bananas. Solution is to turn all streams off (which usually fixes things) or restart the system, which always fixes things. Growing pains... maybe USB isn't so Universal after all:) I love these cameras... and everything that goes with them. Don't give up!!!!
