Open-source Linux smartphone Librem 5 November release software updates

Purism share its November 2019 Librem 5 Linux software on smartphone updates. Librem 5 is a user privacy and encryption at the core of free and open source Linux smartphone, which runs Debian-based GNU / Linux operating system, desktop environments KDE Plasma Mobile or GNOME Shell, running only open source applications.

In this update, they fix the audio routing, and a variety of application changes. Specific updates are as follows:

  • Fixed audio routing Librem 5 Birch batches, so that the Linux smartphones can actually work as a phone. Currently, the phone seems to be working properly.
  • Documentation updates.
  • Improving integration between applications "chat" and "Contact."
  • Screen keyboard improvement, especially in horizontal layout.
  • Improved small keyboard means for dialing program through libhandy.
  • WWAN modem software support handover by the window title bar.
  • Continue to improve the power to generate less heat and improving battery life. Some kernel work in progress, but it seems not much progress.
  • It supports Bluetooth audio.
