Feel the feelings of open source software release

Recently, I have been looking at QGIS. There are some technologies that need to be checked for help. For the completeness and perfection of the calculation, I directly refer to the official website of QGIS. It is a very simple glance at the technical improvements of this version, and I actually saw an introduction to the Polish virgin forest and content related to the 100th anniversary of forest protection.

We have a lot of natural heritage in China, shouldn't we, as technicians, also add this feeling to it? No longer let technology be just dry technology, add some awe of the country's natural resources, some care for research, and a kind of thinking about human society.

Not much to say, let's appreciate this forest in Poland. I don't know how to translate the name of this forest. Let's call it: Bialowieza Forest.

This is an ancient forest with a conservation history of 600 years. It is mainly located in the border area between Poland and Belarus. The village is the main area in this area. There are Warsaw University and Institute of Zoology in the village.

Home - QGIS Białowieża Białowieża Forest is one of the last remaining virgin forests in the world. It is one of the few natural virgin forests in the temperate lowlands of Europe and has been protected for more than 600 years. In 2021, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Białowieża National Park in Poland, one of the oldest national parks in the world. The QGIS community wants to celebrate this occasion with the release of QGIS 3.22 Białowieża.

Who is using QGIS in Biarovdza Forest? So many institutes, Institute of Forestry, Institute of Mammals of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Białowieża Warsaw University Botanical Garden Workstation, Białystok Technical University Institute of Forestry Sciences, Białowieża Polish National Park, Białowieżskaya Pushca National Park

The Forest Institute provides some data that can be used for GIS research:

1. Remote sensing data. Part of the collection Life + ForBioSensing PL Integrated Monitoring Power Station BIAł Wound ż Forest with remote sensing technology project support and attention to the most valuable and best-preserved fragments of BIAł Wound ż Forest Strictly part of the BNP Paribas reserve. For more information about the project and the data provided, please contact Prof. Krzysztof Stereńczak Project Leader. These data are open and freely available. However, if you want to use the data, please credit the data sources mentioned below.

ALS data - QGIS Białowieża

These data are part of the LIFE+ ForBioSensing PL project "Integrated monitoring of forest stand dynamics in Białowieża supported by remote sensing technology", funded by the European Commission's Life+ project (contract number LIFE13 ENV/PL/000048) and the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (contract Co-financed under No. 485/2014/WN10/p-nm-lf/D).

Airborne laser scanning (ALS) data are valuable information on the topography under the stand canopy and can be used to determine many tree and stand characteristics and analyze forest structure.
Hyperspectral imaging offers a very wide range of possibilities in analyzing plant species composition and conditions. High-resolution hyperspectral data (visible light, near-infrared spatial resolution ≤ 2.5 m, mid-infrared spatial resolution ≤ 5 m) were acquired during the project.

at last,

Enjoy the view of the forest.

If you have any questions you can contact the Polish GIS User Group.

I have to say, this is the version introduction written in the help document. It was amazing. The whole article contains not only the awe of nature, but also the introduction of humanities and scientific research. Even more surprising is their free and open attitude towards data. It is much better than our software release, and it is much more favorable to the stereotyped research impression. This approach is worth learning for all research units and technology companies.
