Recently, Research.com announced the ranking of the world's top scientists in 2023, covering 26 fields, such as environmental science, ecology and evolution, plant science and agriculture, business and management, economics and finance, etc. The ranking is based on multiple data sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef, and is used to assess the quantity and quality of scholars’ academic output.

The ranking method is based on the D-Index (subject H-Index) of scholars in their respective fields, and the D-Index is required to be no less than 30. At the same time, comprehensively consider the number of publications and citations of scholars to evaluate the quantity and level of academic output.

This article lists the top 10% of Chinese scholars in the fields of environmental science, ecology and evolution, plant science and agriculture, business and management, economics and finance. In the field of environmental science, 567 Chinese scholars have been selected into the ranking of the world's top scientists, of which 74 scholars are ranked in the top 10% of all scholars, ranking third in the world. In terms of institutions, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has the most elected scholars, followed by Peking University.

 

In the field of ecology and evolution, 111 Chinese scholars have been selected into the ranking of the world's top scientists, of which 17 scholars rank in the top 10%, ranking 11th in the world. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is the institution with the largest number of selected scholars.

 In the field of plant science and agriculture, 155 Chinese scholars were selected into the rankings, 29 of whom ranked in the top 10%, ranking 4th in the world. The institutions with the largest number of selected students are the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing Agricultural University.

In the field of business and management, 54 Chinese scholars have been selected into the ranking of the world's top scientists, of which 29 scholars rank in the top 10%, ranking 5th in the world. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and City University of Hong Kong are the institutions with the largest number of selected scholars. 

In the field of economics and finance, 42 Chinese scholars were selected into the rankings, 15 of whom ranked in the top 10%, ranking ninth in the world.
