Remember that no matter what we do with our virtual machine, it will not It affects our own machine, because it is only virtual. Don’t worry about improper operation in the virtual machine. Just try it boldly. The worst case scenario is to delete this virtual machine and install another one.
Next, the author will introduce in detail the steps to use VMware to install CentOS 7 without visual interface (minimum installation).
First open VMware and click on Create a new virtual machine
Select Custom (Advanced) (C) and click Next
Click next
Select to install the operating system(s) later and click Next
Select Linux (L) for the guest operating system , select CentOS 7 64-bit version , and then click Next
Give your virtual machine a name and a home for it , then click Next
It is recommended that the host node has more processors (depending on your machine configuration and requirements), and the default number of slave nodes is sufficient (the machine node in the screenshot of this article is a slave node, so the number is the default number), and then click Next
The default memory of the slave machine node is 1GB. Please set the master machine node according to your own needs (the machine node in the screenshot of this article is a slave node, so the number is the default number), and then click Next
Choose to use NAT mode (the author will have an article explaining how to configure the NAT mode virtual machine network (both visual and non-visual versions)), and then click Next
Select LSI Logic(L) (recommended) and click Next
Select SCSI (S) (recommended) and click Next
Click next
The default disk of the slave node machine can be used. Please set the master machine node according to your needs (the machine node in the screenshot of this article is a slave node, so the number is the default number), and then click Next
Set the disk file path and click Next
Click Customize Hardware©… (If you click Finish here, please don’t worry, there are how to do it later)
Click New CD/DVD (IDE) to automatically detect , then click Use ISO Image File (M):, enter your own virtual machine image file path , and then click Close
Click Finish
If you clicked Done directly before, click Edit Virtual Machine Settings
Click New CD/DVD (IDE) to automatically detect , then click Use ISO Image File (M):, enter your own virtual machine image file path , and then click OK
Click to start this virtual machine
After the mouse is moved into the black frame (or clicked on the black frame), the keyboard can operate the virtual machine. Press the ↑↓ arrow (the author holds down the ↓ key each time to see what color the last row is, and then selects the first row) and select Install CentOS 7
There is an interface before this step, just press the Enter key to operate , select Chinese , select Simplified Chinese (readers can also select other languages), and then click Continue
Click on the installation location (D)
Click Finish
Click Network & Hostname
Turn on Ethernet and click Finish
Click to start installation
Click ROOT password
After setting the password, click Finish
No need to create a user
After CentOS 7 installation is complete, click Restart
First enter our administrator name: root, and then enter the password we set before. My password is 123456. Entering the password will not be displayed. Just press the Enter key after entering it.

At this point, the minimal installation of CentOS 7 (without graphical interface) is completed.
