China Platform Software Market Research Report: OceanBase ranks No. 1 in domestic distributed database sales in the financial industry

Recently, the "2022-2023 China Platform Software Market Research Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "report") was released. The report analyzed the development of the platform software market including databases and operating systems. The report pointed out that in the financial industry with the fastest growing demand for platform software, OceanBase has already occupied the first place in domestic distributed database sales.

This report was issued by the CCID Consulting Software and Information Service Industry Research Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to the report, with the accelerated process of enterprises going to the cloud and the continuous deepening of industry informatization, the platform software market will further grow rapidly in the next three years, and the market size is expected to reach 118.3 billion yuan by 2025.

Among them, finance will release a large amount of market demand. In January 2022, the General Office of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission issued the "Guiding Opinions on the Digital Transformation of the Banking and Insurance Industry", proposing to speed up the construction of general software technology service capabilities such as databases and middleware. Finance will surpass the telecommunications and Internet industries and become the fastest growing and largest application market for platform software. As of 2022, finance has accounted for 21.2% of China's platform software market, higher than telecommunications and the Internet.

According to the report, through market statistics, it is found that as a domestic database that supports all of Alipay's core accounting and core payment systems, OceanBase has become a leader in China's distributed database field with its mature products in the field of distributed database technology. The sales volume of distributed databases in the industry ranks first among domestic manufacturers.

OceanBase insists on self-research and continues to make breakthroughs in distributed database technology and product performance. OceanBase4.0, released last year, realizes a stand-alone integrated architecture, adapting to the needs of enterprises of different scales and stages of development, from small personal sites to bank core systems and giant e-commerce websites.

According to the official disclosure of OceanBase, it has provided services to 1/4 of the top financial institutions in the country. For example, the distributed credit core of the Bank of Communications has been gradually upgraded and transformed since 2020, and it has been running smoothly so far. Helping Yunnan Hongta Bank to realize the new generation of core system fully supported by a fully distributed database to meet business requirements in the next 8 to 10 years. Helping Sichuan Rural Credit Corporation creatively implement the three-site, four-center, five-copy model to cope with rapid disaster recovery of businesses in earthquake-prone areas. In addition, CPIC's first full-line insurance core system was migrated to OceanBase. China Merchants Securities applied OceanBase to its massive market quotation system and historical income system.

The report also pointed out that with the development of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, higher requirements have been placed on database products. Cloud databases have become a new market hotspot, and distributed databases have also become the direction of upgrading the technical architecture of core systems due to their scalability.

At present, OceanBase has launched the cloud database OB Cloud, allowing more small and medium-sized enterprises to have a more convenient and lower-cost financial-grade high-performance database on the cloud, and it only takes a few minutes to complete the setup at the fastest. Haidilao, Ctrip, etc. have already adopted this cloud database solution.
