Explore remote access to Intranet Synology NAS 6.X (using an independent domain name) [Intranet Penetration]

Use your own domain name to remotely access the Intranet Synology NAS 6.X [Intranet Penetration]

In the previous article, we demonstrated how to use cpolar to create a fixed data tunnel that can log in to the intranet Synology NAS from the public Internet. This tunnel is already capable of handling most situations. However, we can see that when logging in to the Intranet Synology NAS from the public network, the protocol used is http, and cpolar supports custom domain names, so we can go a step further and use a domain name similar to the URL, or even add the current The popular security protocol (https) makes our data more secure. Now, let's start exploring.

If you want to use a custom domain name as the address to log in to the intranet Synology NAS, then we need to have a domain name first. This domain name needs to be used on the public network, so it must be purchased from a domain name provider (for the detailed process of purchasing a domain name, please refer to " Using cpolar build a business website (how to buy a domain name) " , not repeat them here). When we get the domain name we like, we can enter the cpolar official website, find the "reserve custom domain name" column on the "reserved" page, fill in the purchased domain name in the "domain name" column; fill in the "region" column Actual area of use (it should be noted that all custom domain names in China need to be filed in order to be accessed normally, foreign areas do not need to be registered, domestic areas include cn, cn_vip, cn_top; overseas have us, hk, etc.); "Description" column You can fill in the information for your own identification.

After the custom domain name is reserved, a CNAME value will be generated (this CNAME value is the key to the domain name resolution in the next step). After obtaining the CNAME value, we switch back to the domain name platform and find the "Resolution" button on the right side of the domain name we selected.

Click the "Analysis Settings" button on the new page

At the top left of the transferred page, click "Add Record"

After clicking "Add Record", you will officially enter the domain name resolution settings. What we need to fill in are "Record Type", "Host Record", and "Record Value".

The contents that need to be filled in are: "Record Type" select to fill in "CNAME"; "Host Record" fill in "www"; "Record Value" can be copied and pasted from the custom domain name saved on the cpolar official website. After filling in these fields, you can click "Confirm" at the bottom right to save the content.

After confirming the resolution content, the domain name platform will automatically start the resolution, and the resolution will last about 10 minutes (usually shorter than this time). While waiting for the resolution, we can go back to the cpolar client and bind this new domain name to the data tunnel of the Synology NAS.

Go back to the cpolar client in the Synology system, open the "Tunnel List" page under the "Tunnel Management" item, and click the "Edit" button on the right side of the corresponding tunnel.

On the "Edit" page of the tunnel, we check "Custom Domain Name" and fill in the purchased domain name in the "Domain Name" field (here you need to fill in the complete domain name, that is, the domain name with www)

img

After filling in the domain name information, you can click "Update" below to enter the updated information into the cpolar client. At this time, we go back to the "Online Tunnel List" under the "Status" item, and we can see the previously established data tunnel named "NAS-SSH", and the public network address has become the domain name we purchased. At this time, if you enter this public network address on other electronic devices, the login interface of the local Synology NAS will appear, which means that we have completed the setting of the custom local Synology NAS address, and now we can use the new The domain name of , log in to the Synology system located on the intranet on the public Internet.

Although we have completed the update of the intranet Synology NAS domain name on the public Internet, the http protocol is still in an unsafe state at this time, and the address link is easily hijacked, so we still need to upgrade to the https protocol to make our data more secure Assure. Due to limited space, we will explain in detail the content of upgrading to the https protocol in the next introduction. If you have any questions about the use of cpolar, please contact us, we will provide you with assistance within our ability. Of course, you are also welcome to join the VIP official group of cpolar to explore the unlimited potential of cpolar together.
