(The default output port of Synology Drive is 6690), which is like opening up an efficient, secure and confidential data tunnel directly between the LAN and the Internet (only if you send this address to others, others will know it, and outsiders will not know the existence of this tunnel at all) , allowing specific visitors to view our shared files and information through this data tunnel.

For the convenience of operation, the author upgraded cpolar to the professional package (the professional package is cheap and large, and provides 2 fixed TCP tunnels, while the free version of the TCP tunnel changes every 24 hours), so that my shared files can be continuously and stably accessed. 2.1 Cpolar cloud settings

2.2 Cpolar local settings

Next, we go back to the Synology NAS, open the cpolar software, and connect the blank data tunnel generated by the cpolar cloud to the local Synology Drive port of Synology.

Open the cpolar client locally on Synology on the left side of the main interface, find 隧道管理the "Create Tunnel" button under the item, and click to enter the tunnel creation page. On this page, we need to set several pieces of information, including the following.

  • Tunnel name : The tunnel name here is displayed on the cpolar client (it has nothing to do with the tunnel name on the cpolar cloud). For the convenience of management, the author still names it Synology drive;
  • Protocol : The protocols here include http, tcp, tls, ftp and dedicated NAS Synology to adapt to different tunnel applications. We choose the tcp protocol;
  • Port : The dedicated output port of Synology Drive is 6690, so enter 6690 here;
  • Port type : The port here is convenient for us to choose the duration of this tunnel. If it is only used temporarily, you can choose a random temporary port. But the author intends to make this tunnel exist for a long time, so I check the fixed TCP port;
  • Reserved TCP address : This content box will appear after selecting the fixed TCP port. The address that needs to be filled in is the address generated by the "Reserved TCP address" on the cpolar cloud.

2.3 Test and use

Finally, we can use a device located on the public Internet to try to access the Synology Drive shared files on the local Synology through the data tunnel established by cpolar.

Just like accessing Synology Drive through a local LAN, we need to enter the basic information of the Synology NAS to be connected in the Synology Drive Client. The difference is that at the Synology NAS address, we fill in the TCP address generated by cpolar, replacing the previous LAN four-segment address.
