Blender Basics: Curve Modeling Basics

1 Curve modeling

Curves, also known as splines, are used to describe smooth curves and shapes

Generally divided into two types:

bezier curve

Nurbs curve

Add a curve:

Add --> Curve --> Bezier Curve

Press 7 to enter top view

Press TAB to edit the curve

Select the move tool and move a control point or handle

Press TAB to exit editing

Next, the curves can be converted to a mesh, or otherwise used. .

(It can be converted to a grid and then edited on points, edges, and faces)

2 Editing of Bezier curves (control points)

control point

Add a Bezier curve. edit.

When a control point is selected, handles are displayed.

Two modes of operation:

1. Box selection, move or g key

2. Adjust (select and move)

handle

The handle can be extended and shortened, which will affect the shape of the curve

3 Editing of Bezier curves

1. Add control points

Subdivision: select two control points, right click, subdivide

Extrude: select the endpoint, press E key

2. Delete the control point

Merge vertices: select the control point, press the x key

In addition, press the A key to select all control points

Type of handle

Select a handle, press the V key, select the handle type

-- Free, free adjustment (left and right can be set separately)

--alignment, left and right synchronization

--Vector, directly connected (there is no curve in the middle) and converted to free when moving

- Automatic, automatic smoothing

4 grid alignment

In order to ensure the accuracy of the curve, grid alignment should be used

-- open magnet options

--Incremental mode, check absolute grid alignment

5 Free line drawing

1. In free line drawing, press F to automatically close

2. Select two points and press F to close

3. For redundant points, press X to merge

4. Curve intersection: select adjacent vertices, press V, and automatically

5. Two overlapping points: drag and press X to delete one of them

6. Allow multi-segment curves and do not require connection

7. Press the 1/3 key to draw a curve in the vertical plane

6 Use of background images

Prepare a picture as a reference for modeling

Press the 7 key to enter the top view

Add | Image | Background

Punch right attribute, object data attribute

Size, zoom image size

Key points and details:

1. The background image is only displayed in the orthographic view, not in the perspective view

2. As a background display, it will not cover the object
