Text/hex editor wxMEdit 3.2 released, new French translation, RISC-V packaging

wxMEdit is an open source text/hexadecimal editor, recently released wxMEdit 3.2, and opened the version update detection.

According to reports, wxMEdit provides friendly support for encoding and hexadecimal editing, especially in hexadecimal mode, it can also support various encodings. wxMEdit is the successor of MadEdit with many improvements.

wxMEdit 3.2 has better compatibility and stability than wxMEdit 3.1, and has fixed multiple crashes, compatibility issues, and some other minor issues.

Significant improvements in wxMEdit 3.2 include:

  • New packages for Win64, domestic distribution and RISC-V architecture,
  • Support the latest national Chinese coding standard GB18030-2022
  • Unicode support up to 15.0
  • Support High DPI under Windows
  • Support for GTK+3 and Wayland
  • Adjust some shortcut keys

The changes recorded in wxMEdit 3.2 are as follows:

  1. Add new feature: display file size in human readable format.

  2. Added option to always open files with a specific encoding.

  3. Added support for GTK+ 3 and Wayland.

  4. Added support for High DPI under Windows.

  5. Redesigned icons (designed by jerome KASPER).

  6. Some shortcut keys have been changed, see Shortcut Key Changes in wxMEdit 3.2.

  7. Updated GB18030 support to the latest standard GB18030-2022.

  8. Updated Unicode block descriptions for Unicode 15.0 (requires ICU 72 or higher)

  9. Fixed an issue that caused a crash when the line length exceeded the limit in text mode.

  10. Fixed an issue that caused a crash when clicking the "OK" button in the "About wxMEdit" dialog.

  11. Fixed an issue where the text contained some tab characters causing it to become unresponsive when wrapping by window.

  12. Fixed triple-click to select row behavior broken in wxMEdit 3.1.

  13. Fixed info window height reduction by 4 in MadEdit/wxMEdit (built with wxMSW-2.8).

  14. Fixed an issue where fonts and encodings were not restored after restarting.

  15. Fixed an issue where characters could not be entered via AltGr.

  16. Fixed cursor flickering and selection rendering issues under Linux.

  17. Fixed an issue where the IME candidate window did not follow the cursor under Windows 10.

  18. Added French translation (jerome KASPER).

  19. Updated Simplified Chinese translation.

  20. Other minor changes and bug fixes.
