Eulaceura Version 23H1: A New Milestone for RISC-V Architecture

Recently, RISC-V SIG released Eulaceura version 23H1, which is a major update of the distribution. The new version builds the linux kernel version 6.1, and the image suitable for Silicon Speed LicheePi 4A has also been released. Eulaceura is the first openEuler distribution to include the RISC-V architecture as a first-level support, sharing some components with the openEuler RISC-V project. Support hardware

  • Allwinner D1
  • LicheePi 4A

LicheePi 4A is the first RISC-V development board whose performance is comparable to Raspberry Pi 4. It is based on Alibaba Pingtouge TH1520 chip, equipped with 4-core 2.0GHz C910 core, 4TOPS NPU and 50GFLOPS GPU, providing developers with powerful performance and can Addresses common desktop experience scenarios.

Version Highlights

The desktop version of Eulaceura uses the Kiran desktop environment contributed by Hunan Kirin in the community as the default. The initial system language includes Chinese and comes with a series of commonly used applications.

Kernel version upgrade

The new version of Eulaceura uses linux kernel 6.1, which will be the candidate kernel version for the next long-term support version of openEuler. This release includes many revisions to the RISC-V architecture and also adds support for more RISC-V devices.

future plan

Eulaceura uses the community's native solutions to provide RISC-V enthusiasts and learners with an out-of-the-box RISC-V experimental environment, and supports the verification and implementation of various community projects under the RISC-V architecture. At present, the new version has been tested and operated in the simulator and real hardware. For more details, please visit the project homepage. In the future, Eulaceura plans to use a unified image for systems applied to different development board hardware to achieve the purpose of universal hardware adaptation. Eulaceura is also a long-running operating system candidate for RISC-V hardware.
