VMwareWorkstation creates a Centos7 virtual machine tutorial (the most detailed in the whole network, with a combination of graphics and text for each step)

VMwareWorkstation creates a virtual machine

Software: VMware Workstation Pro 15.0

Take creating Centos7 as an example

Open VMware Workstation, click Create New Virtual Machine

For hardware compatibility, choose your own version of VMware. I chose 15 when I was 15.

Edit the name and storage location of the virtual machine

image-20230419153656978

Select the number of processors and the number of cores for each processor. The number of processors is generally 1, and the number of cores is selected according to the performance of your computer.

Choose the running memory allocated to the virtual machine, naturally the bigger the more smooth, choose according to the performance of your computer

Select the network type of the virtual machine

bridge mode

When the virtual machine is in bridge mode, it means that the virtual machine and the physical machine are connected to a local area network at the same time , and the IP addresses of the two machines will be in the same network segment .

NAT mode

NAT is the default mode used in VMware virtual machines. In this mode, as long as the physical machine can access the network, the virtual machine can access the network. As long as the physical machine can access the Internet, the virtual machine can access the Internet (personal understanding: it is equivalent to virtualizing a network card from the virtual machine, converting the network segment of the physical machine itself, and then assigning it to different virtual machines through the DHCP service).

host only mode

The host-only mode is similar to the NAT mode, but there is no virtual NAT in this network, so only the physical machine can access the Internet, and the virtual machine cannot access the Internet, and can only access each other in the VMnet1 virtual network

suggestion: Beginners are recommended to use NAT, bridging may not be able to access the external network in some cases

Select the disk type and use the default recommendation

image-20230419154855573

Choose to create a new disk

image-20230419154935401

Specify the capacity of the disk, choose according to your own needs and the computer disk capacity of the physical machine

image-20230419155037234

Specify the disk file, generally keep the default

image-20230419155132395

Check the basic configuration information of the virtual machine, click Finish if it is correct

image-20230419155218945

After completion, you can see the newly created virtual machine in the list

Click OK when done

To start the virtual machine, you can use the up and down keys to move to the above install centos7 and press enter, or you can directly press enter
