VMwareWorkstation creates a virtual machine
Software: VMware Workstation Pro 15.0
Take creating Centos7 as an example
Open VMware Workstation, click Create New Virtual Machine
Select Custom Installation and click Next
For hardware compatibility, choose your own version of VMware. I chose 15 when I was 15.
Choose to install the operating system later, click Next
Choose the operating system you want to install here, I installed Centos7 here, choose Linux system, install centos7 64-bit
Edit the name and storage location of the virtual machine
Select the number of processors and the number of cores for each processor. The number of processors is generally 1, and the number of cores is selected according to the performance of your computer.
Choose the running memory allocated to the virtual machine, naturally the bigger the more smooth, choose according to the performance of your computer
Select the network type of the virtual machine
bridge mode
When the virtual machine is in bridge mode, it means that the virtual machine and the physical machine are connected to a local area network at the same time , and the IP addresses of the two machines will be in the same network segment .
NAT mode
NAT is the default mode used in VMware virtual machines. In this mode, as long as the physical machine can access the network, the virtual machine can access the network. As long as the physical machine can access the Internet, the virtual machine can access the Internet (personal understanding: it is equivalent to virtualizing a network card from the virtual machine, converting the network segment of the physical machine itself, and then assigning it to different virtual machines through the DHCP service).
host only mode
The host-only mode is similar to the NAT mode, but there is no virtual NAT in this network, so only the physical machine can access the Internet, and the virtual machine cannot access the Internet, and can only access each other in the VMnet1 virtual network
suggestion: Beginners are recommended to use NAT, bridging may not be able to access the external network in some cases
Select the I/O controller type and use the default recommendation
Select the disk type and use the default recommendation
Choose to create a new disk
Specify the capacity of the disk, choose according to your own needs and the computer disk capacity of the physical machine
Specify the disk file, generally keep the default
Check the basic configuration information of the virtual machine, click Finish if it is correct
After completion, you can see the newly created virtual machine in the list
Edit virtual machine settings
Select the image of the operating system
Find it in the mirror image stored on your computer
Click OK when done
To start the virtual machine, you can use the up and down keys to move to the above install centos7 and press enter, or you can directly press enter
Choose the language, beginners generally choose Chinese
Select time zone for Asia, Shanghai
Choose the installation mode. For beginners, it is recommended to choose desktop installation, which is more friendly to beginners. In the later stage, it is generally selected to minimize the installation
select partition
Click on the + sign
done to click twice
open network card
After completing all the above configurations, start the installation
set password
So far the virtual machine has been successfully created
