Caliber 6.15 released, a powerful open source e-book tool

The Caliber open source project is the official e-book management tool of Caliber. It can view, convert, edit and categorize eBooks in all major formats. Caliber is cross-platform software that runs on Linux, Windows and macOS.

Caliber 6.15 is officially released, the updates are as follows:

new function

  • Allows adding external links to tags, series, publishers, etc. in addition to authors
  • calibre:// URL scheme: Added support for a new URL type that pops up in a new window specifying the book's metadata
  • EPUB output: Images are not shrunk to fit screen size by default, as modern readers do a good enough job themselves that this can be controlled via an option in the EPUB output section of the conversion dialog.
  • Edit metadata dialog: Add button to easily pop up category edit window
  • Metadata Download: Allow specifying rules to convert publisher names in addition to author and tag names
  • Edit metadata dialog: Use colored borders and icons to show errors in line editing
  • A new tweak in Preferences->Tweaks to control what runs when clicking a URL in caliber.

bug fixes

  • Ebook Viewer: Fixed a regression that caused incorrect highlight detection in some books
  • Ebook Viewer: Fixed an issue where images embedded in SVG tags could not be viewed in popups
  • DOCX input: Don't ignore images that exist as fallbacks for text drawing objects
  • Comic Input: When converting a grayscale PNG image to PNG, ensure that the output image is stored as an indexed PNG
  • Fix active tab not easily distinguishable in dark mode
  • Content Server: Fixed an issue where when a user logged in and reopened a book from the home page, it did not open to the correct last read position
  • Comment editor: When copying to clipboard, copy clean HTML instead of Qt-generated garbage
