BPE is used for text segmentation . This algorithm was first proposed in 1994 to solve the problem of data compression. It was later proposed on ACL in 2016 to complete text segmentation. Now this technology has been successfully applied to GPT-2. And so on a series of language models.

Thinking: I remember that at an academic exchange seminar in late November 2022, the instructor said a sentence: "Cross-border should form a dimensionality reduction blow." I don't know if the research represented by the above-mentioned works is considered a successful cross-border Research, but it reminds us at least one thing, that is, we need to open our minds and be flexible in thinking. Only in this way can we be able to innovate boldly.
