Zenytal Server is a commercial distribution based on Ubuntu. It is positioned as a network management or Email server for small and medium-sized enterprises, provides relatively complete network services, and integrates many related software.
The Zentyal development team has announced the release of Zentyal Server 5.1. This release is based on the latest Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS and includes the latest version of all integrated software. Some of the most important changes are as follows:
- Linux 4.13: Ubuntu HWE ( H ard w are Enablement ) kernel, supports the latest hardware and is less susceptible to Meltdown and Spectre issues;
- New IDS/IPS module;
- Integrate SOGo 4.0;
- Integrate ejabberd 17.07.
In addition, this release contains important bug fixes, usability and performance improvements (especially in networking, Samba, DNS and HTTP proxy modules, etc.).

Zenytal Server (previously known as eBox Platform) includes many network services required for small and medium business environments, such as mail or groupware services such as ActiveSync, SMTP, POP, IMAP, CalDAV and ActiveDirectory (compatible with Outllok and can be used as Alternative to Microsoft Exchange). Additionally, it can be used as a gateway, infrastructure manager, unified threat manager, office server, and unified communications server. These functions are highly integrated to automate many tasks. Zenytal Server also comes with a web-based graphical management front-end that can be used to manage many services and view server status. These features prevent system administrators from spending too much time on configuration and maintenance, and reduce the chance of errors.
