Stability AI Releases StableStudio, Open Source Version of DreamStudio

Nowadays, the cost of developing a sufficiently good AI product is getting higher and higher, and many large companies cannot afford it, let alone startups. Stability AI, the company behind the Stable Diffusion model, continues to output various open source products. Recently, they have open sourced a new product - StableStudio .

Essentially, StableStudio is the open-source version of the company's current DreamStudio, a commercial app for Stability AI's image generator model, Stable Diffusion. In StableStudio, users can use the company's latest Stable Diffusion XL image generator and StableLM language model. Stability AI is also currently developing the StableVicuna chat interface for StableLM, which will eventually be added to StableStudio.

After all, the user scale of the commercial version is limited. For this reason, Stability AI stated in the announcement:

We believe that the best way to expand reach is through open, community-driven development, not private iterations of closed-source products.

By open-sourcing StableStudio, Stability AI allows community developers to continuously improve and experiment with new interfaces, and Stability AI can also feed back the commercial version of DreamStudio through these improvements.

However, developing StableStudio and DreamStudio at the same time may also lead to competition between the two products, which may reduce the revenue generated by DreamStudio to a certain extent. Considering that AI is a very expensive project, it is not clear what Stability AI will do last year. How long can the $100 million raised be burned.
