4.5 Alignment of cell content [Original Excel Tutorial]

1. This lesson will show you how cells are aligned. First click to select the header cell. 



2. Then in the [Alignment] command group, click the Align Center button to center the contents of the cell in the vertical direction. 


3. Click the bottom alignment button to align the contents of the cell in the vertical direction and display it at the bottom. 


4. Click the text center button to center the text of the cell in the horizontal direction. 


5. Click the Align Right button to align the text of the cell to the right horizontally. 


6. Click the text center button again to center the text of the cell in the horizontal direction. 


7. Then click the Align Center button to center the contents of the cell vertically. 


8. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list. 


9. In the pop-up text direction list, select the [Counterclockwise angle] option, and the text will be displayed at a counterclockwise angle. 


10. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


11. In the pop-up text direction list, select the [Clockwise angle] option, and the text will be displayed at a clockwise angle. 


12. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


13. In the pop-up text orientation list, select the [Vertical text] option, and the text will be displayed vertically. 


14. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


15. In the pop-up text orientation list, select the [Rotate text up] option to rotate the text in the cell up. 


16. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


17. In the pop-up text direction list, select the [Rotate text down] option to rotate the text in the cell down. 


18. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


19. In the pop-up text orientation list, click the [Rotate text down] option again to restore the default text display mode. 


20. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


21. In the pop-up text direction list, select the option [Set Cell Alignment], and the Set Cell Format window will pop up. 


22. In the Orientation setting area, click the vertical text option to adjust the text orientation to vertical display. 


23. Then click the OK button to complete the adjustment of the text direction. 


24. Click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


25. In the pop-up text direction list, select the option [Set Cell Alignment], and the Set Cell Format window will pop up. 


26. In the Orientation setting area, click the Vertical text option again to adjust the text orientation to landscape. 


27. Then click on the direction rotation dial to set the rotation angle of the text. 


28. Click the OK button to complete the adjustment of the text direction and observe the change of the text angle. 


29. Then show you the indentation of the contents of the cell. Click to select cell A8. 


30. Then drag down to select multiple cells. 


31. In the [Alignment] command group, click the Increase Indent button to increase the indent of the cell content. 


32. Then select all cells between A11 and A14. 


33. Click the Increase Indent button again to increase the indent of the cell contents. 


34. Then select the fine sand and coarse sand cells. 


35. Click the Increase Indent button again to increase the indent of the selected cell contents. 


36. Click the Reduce Indent button to reduce the indent of the cell contents. 


37. Then click the [Direction] drop-down arrow to pop up the text direction list again. 


38. In the pop-up text direction list, select the option [Set Cell Alignment], and the Set Cell Format window will pop up. 


39. In the [Text Alignment] setting area, click the [Indent] double arrow to increase the indent of the cell. 


40. Then click the OK button to complete the setting of the cell format and observe the changes in the indentation of the cells.
