PMP learning sharing

During Double 11 in 2019, I applied for the PMP course at 51CTO College. It was originally a March exam. Due to the epidemic, the exam was finally confirmed on September 26. I prepared for the exam several times during this period. I learned and forgot to study again. Fortunately, my hard work paid off. I passed the exam and obtained PMP certification. Thank you 51CTO Mr. An Wang, class teachers, and students who enthusiastically shared the discussion and solutions in the group. A few thoughts and experiences are shared with everyone: The
first point is to set clear goals and resolutely implement them. Most of the people who study PMP are working people. For example, I already have children. I work hard during the day and go home with the children at night. The study time is precious and the goal is to pass the exam. With a clear goal, it is necessary to formulate a plan and resolutely implement it. Learning is not a matter of overnight, it must be achieved through long-term hard work and persistence. My plan for myself is to keep studying for one hour every day, first watch the PMBOK guide and the learning videos recorded by Teacher Wang An, and participate in every live class as much as possible, then extract the notes to deepen the impression, then do the real questions, and finally re-check the wrong questions. Consolidate learning and form a closed loop of PDCA.
The second point is to learn to grasp the big and let go of the small, focus on mastering core knowledge points, and understand and memorize non-core knowledge points. The PMPBOK guide covers a wide range of knowledge. In a limited time, we can only focus on the core knowledge points, and aim to pass the exam instead of mastering all the project management knowledge. At the beginning of the video class and during the live broadcast class, the teacher will talk about the key knowledge points and the proportion of points. In this part, we should focus on the key memory, and the exam is also the part of our focus. For example, the input and output of the five process groups, ten knowledge fields, and tool technology, such as the process step processing method of change management, must be mastered. For knowledge points that are not too high and difficult, you can learn and master when you have enough time. If you don’t have much time like me, you can understand and remember. If you encounter it during the exam, you can use reasoning, estimation, and elimination. Other methods also have a certain accuracy rate. For example, knowledge points such as calculation problems, laws and regulations, and industry standards.
The third point is to write more questions and replay more. The PMP exam lasts four hours, 200 questions, a large amount of questions, and a lot of knowledge points. For us who have been away from campus for many years, it is a huge test of brainpower and energy. After laying the foundation in the previous stage of learning, you need to learn routines, strengthen memory, substitute scenes, and get used to the thinking mode under the project management system by constantly writing questions. After repeating the questions, my answering speed can be easily controlled at about 2 hours. Don't be afraid of making mistakes when you first start to review the questions. After you finish, you must review the questions one by one in order to improve. Generally speaking, the review time is 1.5-2 times of the time to do the questions. My habit is that the correct questions will be read again. This can consolidate knowledge and eliminate the situation where the knowledge points are not mastered but happen to be selected correctly. One week before the test, my mock test scores were generally around 120-130 points, but after I brushed the questions again in the last week before the test, many questions were impressed, and the mock test scores could reach 140-150 points. In the final exam, I found that many questions have been done, and the exam answering process was very smooth, and finally passed smoothly.
The fourth point is to communicate with teachers and classmates in groups. The learning atmosphere in the class group is very good. Every day, many students share question types in the group, discuss and debate right and wrong, and the teacher will answer the questions that cannot be solved. Such a learning atmosphere also helps us consolidate knowledge and improve together.
The fifth point is persistence. Due to the impact of the epidemic and many other aspects, every time I announce a delay, I will have a slack period, which affects the learning effect, and the final learning effect is not very good. The test score is also 4T1A, which is not a high score. But in the study group, a group of students study hard every day, often discussing problems, and finally got a 4A or even 5A high score, which is very commendable.
Finally, I would like to thank the 51CTO Academy for the training, which improved my management level and met many like-minded students. I will continue to work hard in the future to implement the theoretical knowledge of project management into my work and study.
