In this research, the author read and studied academic literature related to the classification of culture-specific words and the translation strategies of culture-specific words, which will be discussed in detail below.
(1) The status quo of the classification of culturally specific words.
There are differences in cultures around the world, which leads to some problems when conveying meaning to readers of a different culture; translation theorists are aware of the importance of this problem, so The following theories about culturally specific words are proposed.
(1) The definition of culture-specific words
Baker (1992) defines culture -specific items as abstract words such as religious beliefs, social customs, or specific words such as food.
JF Aixela's definition of culturally specific words is: certain items that appear in the text, because there is no corresponding item in the cultural system of the target language reader (Referred item), or have a different textual status (intertextual status) from the item, so its function and meaning (connotation) in the source language will be difficult to translate when transferred to the translation (Aixela, 1996, p.58 ).
Eugene Nida for Culture - Specific ( Cultural Term defined) is, words within a specific range of cultural, national culture in the language vocabulary direct and indirect reaction (Nida, 2005, p.106).
Peter Newmark believes that culture refers to the way of life and expression unique to society that uses a certain language as a means of expression (Newmark, 2000, p.94). (I define culture as the way of life and its manifestations that are peculiar to a community that uses a particular languages as its means of expression.) Thus, he will culture-specific word ( Cultural Term ) is defined as a unique nation Entity classification of people, things, and processes (Newmark, 2008, p.70). (Refer to persons, objects or processes peculiar to a single ethnic community, refer to classes of entities.)
In English, there are many ways to express culture-specific words, such as Culture-specific item, Cultural term, Culture-bound term, Culturally-loaded word and Culture-bound lexis. Although the names are different, the basic connotations are the same.
In this research, culture-specific words refer to vocabulary, phrases and idioms that mark things unique to a certain culture. They can be abstract or specific vocabulary related to lifestyles and beliefs, including various types unique to specific ethnic groups. Phenomena, rituals, or various social activities, politics, education, art, religion, history, place names, weights and measures may be similar to another culture but cannot be exactly the same.
