继去年年底启动新平台 Yari，并在 GitHub 存储库中公开后，Mozilla 于昨日宣布推出 "Open Web Docs" 组织（OWD）。
据其介绍，"Open Web Docs" （OWD）是一个开放的集合体，由几个主要的 MDN 合作伙伴组织合作创建， 旨在为技术作家群体提供有关战略创建和长期维护 Web 平台技术文档的支持，以确保独立于任何单个供应商或组织的 MDN Web Docs 等开放 Web 平台文档的长期健康。为此，它将筹集资金以资助写作人员，并帮助管理社区和流程以满足当前和未来的文档需求。 Google、Microsoft 和 Coil 将作为创始赞助商为 Open Web Docs 提供资金支持，而 Mozilla 则会成为其指导委员会的成员。
不过，亦有外媒称，此举的主要原因是 Mozilla 于去年 8 月份的大裁员中开除了整个 MDN Web Docs 作家团队，因此人手不足后才会寻求社区接管。“Last year during the big round of layoffs at Mozilla the entire Mozilla Developer Network (MDN) writers team was laid off. That was a particularly sad blow considering how valuable the MDN documentation has been to web developers as a very useful resource. Today the Mozilla folks are announced Open Web Docs in seemingly looking to have the community take over”。
