- Is the Strictness on IMEI check operator dependent?
Yes, Some operators are very strict regarding checking IMEI while some are not. This is also dependent on Countries, Some countries have strict rules for IMEI Check for correctness and Black List/White List check while some countries’ operators don’t may much attention to black/white list.
We recommend you to always test using a correct whitelist IMEI number to avoid any abnormality.
- Difference between Illegal ME(6) and Illegal MS(3)?
As per 3GPP 24.008
Cause value = 3 Illegal MS
This cause is sent to the MS when the network refuses service to the MS either because an identity of the MS is not acceptable to the network or because the MS does not pass the authentication check,
i.e. the SRES received from the MS is different from that generated by the network.
When used by an MM procedure, except the authentication procedure, this cause does not affect operation of the GPRS
