VASSAL 3.7.3 released, open source chess and card game construction engine

VASSAL Engine version 3.7.3 is now released. VASSAL is a game engine for building board and card games online that can be run in real time on the Internet or via email. VASSAL Engine runs on all platforms and is free and open source. Specific updates include:

IMPORTANT

  • There is now a universal application package for MacOS. It runs natively on 64-bit x86 (Intel) and 64-bit ARM (Apple Silicon) Macs.
  • Earlier versions of Vassal cannot open modules saved in 3.7. Officials recommend that users keep backup copies of any pre-3.7 modules that they plan to modify in 3.7.
  • Something that worked before may be broken. Users are advised to report bugs found.

Changes since 3.7.2

  • 12705: Prevent duplicate translations from being created via the "Add Translation" button

Other improvements

  • 12814: Update bundled Java to 21
