Ubuntu 23.10 is officially released, you might as well take advantage of Friday to upgrade!

Ubuntu 23.10 has been officially released, codenamed "Mantic Minotaur". This release is not an LTS release and will only be supported for nine months until July 2024.

The default installation of Ubuntu 23.10 is configured as " Minimal" , which means that the default installation of Ubuntu desktop is now a minimal installation - no additional applications will be included. Of course, users can select the 'Expanded installation' option to meet richer application requirements, so that daily applications such as LibreOffice and Thunderbird can be installed on first startup.

In addition, the new version introduces support for ZFS boot installation, improving the flexibility and selectivity of storage management needs. This is a new feature in Subiquity-based installers and is not encrypted by default. An encrypted ZFS boot option will be developed in a future release.

Starting with Ubuntu 23.10, TPM-supported Full Disk Encryption (FDE) will be introduced as an experimental feature, building on years of experience with Ubuntu Core. On supported platforms, users no longer need to manually enter their password at launch.
