【GITHUB】FlipIt – Open source flip clock for Windows

FlipIt is a free and open source flip clock application designed specifically for the Windows platform. This app is inspired by the beloved old flip clock app Fliqlo, which is recognized as the classic flip clock screensaver. However, since Fliqlo is developed based on Flash technology, with Microsoft recently officially banning Flash, Fliqlo is no longer available to users.

Due to the failure of Fliqlo, FlipIt came into being and became the best Fliqlo alternative. Unlike Fliqlo, FlipIt does not rely on network permissions at all and does not require the use of Flash technology. It is a standalone .scr screensaver that works without a network connection.

When installing FlipIt, you only need to move one of the .scr (see below for the download address) screensaver file (.scr is the file suffix of the screen saver program) to the appropriate Windows system directory, so that the system can correctly identify it:

  • For 64-bit Windows: Copy the .scr file to the following directory:

%systemdrive%\Windows\SysWOW64

  • For 32-bit Windows: Copy the .scr file to the following directory:

%systemdrive%\Windows\SysWOW64\Windows\System32

Please make sure you place the screensaver file in the correct location, otherwise you will get the following error:

Then go to Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen and select the "Screensaver" setting.

In the screen saver settings window, select Fliplt from the drop-down list.

Select "Settings" to make detailed settings for the screensaver interface.

Of course, you can also place FlipIt's .scr screensaver file in any folder and then run it by double-clicking it. This way you can start FlipIt manually, but you won't be able to enjoy the convenience of the system automatically turning on the screensaver.
