macOS Sonoma 14 Beta new features/new features

According to the official update log of macOS Sonoma 14 Beta 2, the algorithms of the accelerometer’s spatial, BNNS, vImage and other attributes are mainly improved to provide a better interactive experience.

The new version also introduces a number of improvements to AirPods, inviting more developers to install the beta firmware and test new features such as adaptive audio, personalized volume and conversation awareness.

Attached here is an introduction to the relevant functions as follows:

Adaptive audio:

This new listening mode can dynamically integrate transparency mode and active noise reduction mode according to the user's environment, bringing a listening experience that is most suitable for the moment.

Adaptive audio mode will seamlessly adjust the noise-canceling experience as users move through different environments and types of interactions throughout the day.

Personalized volume:

To continuously improve the personal audio experience, Personalized Volume uses machine learning to understand the user's environmental conditions and listening preferences, automatically making fine adjustments to the multimedia experience over time.

Conversation awareness:

Conversation awareness brings an unparalleled new communication experience to users wearing AirPods Pro (second generation) - users can start a conversation directly with the people around them while wearing the earphones, and conversation awareness will reduce the volume of the earphones and enhance the sound coming from the front of the user , while reducing environmental noise.

After the user opens the window, the widget fades into the background. In addition, Mac and iPhone can access widgets from iPhone if they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Widgets are also interactive, and an official Apple demo showed how to control a connected vehicle from a desktop widget.

Game Mode

Apple also introduced a new Game Mode for Mac devices. Apple says this mode is applicable to games on all Mac platforms and will reduce the audio delay of AirPods and double the Bluetooth sampling rate after connecting to an Xbox or PlayStation controller.

Apple previously invited Hideo Kojima during the WWDC opening speech and confirmed that "Death Stranding Guide Cut" will be launched on the macOS platform.

Improve video conferencing

Apple has further improved the video conferencing effect and can use AR special effects in meetings. The webcam can recognize certain user gestures, triggering certain effects, such as a thumbs up, which can trigger a firework explosion effect.

Safari browser

  • Enhance privacy protection

The new version of Safari browser adds new privacy protection features such as locking the browser window, blocking trackers, and deleting URL trackers.

In addition, the new version of Safari browser also supports users to share passwords and keys with friends or other groups of friends through iCloud Keychain. Apple promises to use end-to-end encryption throughout the process, and Apple will not know the password information.

  • Create multiple browser accounts

Users are allowed to create accounts in the new version of Safari browser to distinguish work and personal accounts. This feature will help prevent data and trackers from mixing with each other and help you browse more organized.

  • Follow web applications

Apple is paying renewed attention to WebApps and has introduced the “Add to Dock” function, which allows users to quickly pin a web application to the Dock.

  • Optimize underlying code

Apple has also upgraded the WebKit rendering engine, including adding vibration support for game controllers, supporting external webcams in Safari for iPad, and supporting AVIF image formats in Safari on macOS Big Sur and later versions.

Apple claims that Safari is "the best way to browse the web" and "the fastest browser in the world." It's worth noting that third-party browsers for iOS and iPadOS still require WebKit to run in the background.
